i had my pigs on fleece but had to change to shavings i accidently bought citrus scented, has anyone used this and what are peoples thoughts on shavings in general?:)

I tried that for our hamster (she is a bit stinky after a cuple of days!) but dont think it made much difference.
I use a little bit or normal wood shaving in the corner for the piggies cos they seem to wee in the same place, so it soaks a bit up.

The scented shavings are not good for the guinea pigs. The chemicals can irritate their skin. Shavings are not good for guinea pigs anyway as they cause them to sneeze. The tiny particles get breathed in. I would use fleece or vet be.

i don't think any shavings are good for piggies at all. they can cause skin irritation and affect the respiratory tract.

Thanks for replies I didn't know it could irritate their skin {:| I've been thinking of trying shredded paper but not sure how absorbant it would be

I have to use wood shavings, I really hate the stuff it makes me sneeze really bad when I clean the pigs out. Mum wont let me use fleece as its "my house my rules" even though I am 19 ¬_¬

Shredded paper needs to be changed every day or mote often its not that absorbent when I tried it
