Hi All

I keep reading in posts that you should try to give your piggies cuddles every day - and Piglet lets us do that with minimal fuss. But none of us has managed to even stroke Wombat, the minute you go to stroke him, even from the side, he disappears into his teepee again and doesn't come out again.

We've only had them since Saturday (6 days) but they were at the rescue centre and we cuddled them both fine there - in fact Wombat was the cuddliest of all the ones we met.

We really have to wash the teepee as it has been slept in now for 6 days, but I'm unsure whether taking it off Wombat will set him back and we won't get to cuddle him for ages?

What do you think?

Jo

I would not take the tee pee away from Wombat as he will be so frightened with nowhere to hide. Do you just have the one hidey thing? I have lots of cabins for my girls to help them to feel safe and not have to stay in one place. I would just pick Wombat up and put him on your lap under a fleece. You can give him a piece of fruit or vegetable so he knows you holding him means something nice.

It's funny how you say he was the cuddliest there and not at home, because my two piggies where completely different personalities when we saw them first, brought them home and it was like they switched, it's crazy how there surroundings effect them.

I think you just need to keep going with little and often, my piggies don't really like being picked up but the more you cuddle them the better !
Don't take there hidey places away as it's there security like a baby can have a blanket sort of thing, they need that to be comfortable (:

I don't think he'll let me pick him up, he chatters his teeth at me if I come too close and dives back into the teepee. He bared his teeth at me when I tried to clear the poos out of his teepee when he was in it. I'm not sure how to get him out!

I have done this Piggiefan - and it works! We have now had lots of cuddles with him, he's ok once you've picked him up and seems to enjoy his cuddles! You are a lifesaver!

Piglet now comes and waits in the tunnel so that I can pick him up for a cuddle. Wombat will go into the tunnel and then lets us pick him up, then comes out onto our lap pads! Its lovely to get piggie cuddles - Piglet makes lots of noises, Wombat is still silent, but its early days. x
