Ok, this is the situation.
Buttercup is about 5years old and has gone really quiet on me. This means, sleeping, laying down, not getting involved with play time, happy to sit on my lap but that's it.

Recent changes were blossom was lost last month, her sister. Butter had got used to bloss disappearing and being quarantined with her illness.

Millie has joined the cage with violet.

Captain jack joined also, but was quarantined for two weeks and has his own cage which has just joined their room and he's vocal.

So, it's my understanding it shouldn't be a problem for them to all be in the same room.

Questions: is buttercup just missing bloss?
Could she be ill?
She's eating and drinking...no weight change.
Has the recent change of smells and new guineas affecting her?

Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
Lil

It sounds to me like maybe, i know 5 isn't very old, but maybe she's just showing her age a little, i know dogs can sometimes get a little more quiet as they age, maybe Buttercup just wants a bit of retirement from busy piggy life !
I guess it's a case of just monitoring her from now on :/
Sorry I'm no help !

No, thank you for the response. I will keep an eye on her and give her loads of lap time. I will still monitor her weight to be sure.

Thanks
X

She could miss Blossom - a piggy can feel the difference between an ill piggy still being around and a piggy that has passed away. Is Blossom on her own now?

Piggies will generally spend more time sleeping and resting the older they get.

Thanks, buttercup did know bloss was around as I kept them in the same room but in different cages. Butter still has her original cage mate violet, it was just the two of them for a few weeks then Millie joined them. It was more obvious when millie joined the cage, it they were absolutely fine together, she's just sleepy.

Thanks in advance.

if she's eating and drinking fine, toilet fine and the weight doesn't really fluctuate then I'd be inclined to think she might just be slowing down a little.
If in doubt or it continues for too long or its worrying you then you could see if you vet has any ideas :)

Thanks bev, I will continue to monitor her and see what happens. I've done a thorough check and there's nothing out of the ordinary so between age and a bit of a change.....?/

If I can pin it down to something I wouldn't hesitate to get her to the vets...I will giver her a bit more time. She's my cutie pie and the oldest so....

Aww she's beautiful!
Bless, hope she's ok, maybe she's having a bit of delayed grief?
