Hi all! Need some help. Currently Rory and the girls are all on fleece cage liners, underneath is newspaper, puppy pad and newspaper, which seems to working out as I only have to change the top layer of newspaper and the larger puppy pad.

The only issue I'm having is winter. My pigs live in a shed and I'm not sure if being on fleece would be suitable for winter.

Any suggestions for a winter alternative?

I don't see how fleece wouldn't be suitable for the winter? If your worried about the insulation properties then I would just make sure that they have plenty of places to keep warm stuff with lots of hay and you can use heated pads in the winter if it gets really bad. My ladies are kept indoors during the winter but I think there is plenty of info on here about how to keep them warm xx

I'm just worried about it being damp... I don't want them sitting on cold damp fleece all day...

Hmm I'm not sure how you would solve that without changing the fleece then. Then again any bedding that has been pee'd on will be cold and damp. If they are given many warm dry placed to sleep they shouldn't be hanging around on damp fleece.

I'm going to have three sets of cage liners by the end of the week and they get changed every day plus the top layer of newspaper is changed everyday and the puppy pads every other day if needed...

My guinea pigs are outside too. I use 4 layers of newspaper, then a thick layer of tumblefresh bedding and then some pets@home straw because it is so soft and finally a big bundle of Nature's best devonshire meadow hay this video explains how to insulate a hutch and the best bedding, I found it very helpful : .ft
Hope this helps!
