So far I have managed to get my mum to agree that the piggies can come in during the winter, but the latest battle I'm facing is when? Seeing as my brother is doing A -Level biology, he has convinced himself that mammals can adapt to any temperature (homeostasis) and therefore they are perfectly fine outdoors. So on a non-sentimental basis, when is it good for the piggies to come indoors? Oh, and any arguments I can use to convince my mum would be good aswell!

i've brought mine in this week, it's getting abit cold on a night here now, and it's been chucking it down lately :( but then we do have the odd warm day that i let them play out in, so it's up to you really on when you think they need to x
P.S your brother is talking nonsense, i studied biology at degree level, mammals can't just adapt to different climates, why does he think he needs to wear big coats in winter! mammals adapt better than cold blooded animals like reptiles. but not well enough that they could survive winter without coats or better fur x

I agree with Jinnywigs :)

Guineas aren't native to this country and aren't really equipt to deal with the cold. Those people that have outdoor guineas all year round put a lot of work into making the hutches as protected as possible from the cold.

I've brought my Squigs in this week, it's been getting much darker and wetter. And it's no fun cleaning out squigies in the wind and rain! Aha

Tell your brother to go outside in the middle of winter when it's snowing in his shorts and see how he adapts to the temperature XD

Heehee, that made me giggle! I did tell him to go sleep in the shed and see what he thought about adapting then, but he just mumbled something incoherent and stormed away! :))

aaaaahhh, brotherly love ;)

Yeah, maybe they do adapt - IF YOU WAIT THOUSANDS OF YEARS, IT'S CALLED EVOLUTION. :))

(sorry to any creationists lurking around)

Hah, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who think his argument is a load of rubbish! Although I am glad to say he has shut up since my mum took my side! I like to think it was because she likes my piggies, but it's probably more to do with shutting me up!

My piggies and bun were in over winter last year, they made tons of mess in the spare room kicking shavings out of the cage! This year, I'm ready for them, I'm putting my shed up this weekend, it'll be insulated with heating and lights. It'll be nice being able to change them whatever the weather. :)
