Hello! On Saturday I noticed some drainage coming from my Winston’s nose. Yesterday was a federal holiday so I had to call the vet this morning. He has an appointment with them at 12:15 pm today. I think it’s a URI. Please send good thoughts and vibes as I am very worried. Assuming he puts him on antibiotics, does anyone know how they will be delivered?

A lot will depend on what antibiotics he is prescribed and the doses, but I have always been given them in liquid form to gently syringe into their mouth (without the needle of course).
There is a video of Ruby being given Baytril here:

I hope he’s on the mend again really soon.

UPDATE:
The vet visit went really well! He’s an otherwise very healthy piggie, and we are doing 10 days of antibiotics. They think the stress of Arthur’s addition brought it on, but it is a mild URI. The vet did say that he appears to be one of the decidedly less tidy boars, so I’ll have to make sure he gets cleaned. It isn’t awful, but something to keep in mind. Does anyone have any tips for that?

Hi!

Glad that it isn't anything serious!

Below are our health check guides, including our boar care guide, which you may find very helpful.
How often you have to service a boar depends on how messy they are. Normal is weekly to monthly, but some may need to be checked more often. Check his bits once weekly during the regular life long weigh-in and health check and take it from there.
Weight - Monitoring and Management
Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths
Guinea pig body quirks - What is normal and what not?
