Truffle has eaten quite a big ivy leaf which I didn't see until it was hanging out of her mouth and when I tried to take it she ran off and finished it quickly before I could catch her. It must have been lying on the ground in the run and I didn't see it. :(

Is there an antidote? Will she be ok? Any advice or info really appreciated, thank you x

All I can find is that English Ivy is poisionus I don't know about antidotes. If you can't get hold of the CCT I would try a vet.

Hope Truffle will be ok. :smitten:

I highly doubt one leaf will kill her. She should be ok!

Good luck for you both!

I really don't know. I've always tended to find they seem to instictively know what they can and cannot eat. Could you maybe try texting Vedra at the CCT and asking her advice.

What's the CCT? Sorry I don't know. (Thanks for your replies.)

Furryfriends she ate it about twenty minutes ago and is OK at the moment

I am hope Truffles will be ok! :(

I am quoting from the Collins Family Pet Guide on Guinea Pigs now ....

"Organic poisoning, caused by eating a poisonous plant, is more likely to affect an immature guinea pig than an older one. However, this kind of poisoning is relatively rare. Nature has decreed that the majority of poisonous plants are unpleasant to taste and they are usually abandoned by guinea pigs after a tentative nibble."

Perhaps the leaf wasn't as big as you thought it was.
Could you try syringe feeding her with water to try to flush it through her system. Don't know if that would help or would make matters worse though!
Keep us posted!

Yeah, the site furry has is the same info I have about poisoning. Speed is key.

Just to update, just collected charcoal and liquid paraffin from the vets and just going to syringe feed her the amounts she needs. Thanks for that link furryfriends, brilliant. Will keep you posted. x

Just to update, she's fine at the moment, she was as good as gold having her "medicine" and seems as fit as a fiddle so here's hoping . . .

thanks so much for all your help and kind wishes x

Well it's now 9.15 the following morning (and from my research if she was going to die it would have happened 8-12 hours after eating the ivy) and as she ate it at about 5.15pm yesterday afternoon, I think it's safe to presume she's OK! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :)

Thank you so much for all your good wishes, they mean so much xx

:-* from Truffle
