Last night we connected some grids together to see how big we could have the cage in the space we have. Will 73cm by 144cmm be enough for 3 Piggys?
I'm using the black grids from Amazon so it's 4 grids long and 2 grids wide, we are also going to build a hay loft.

We are still keeping an eye on things as Millie gets bigger because we know with having 3 one can sometimes get left out. If this were to happen would this size cage being enough for a fourth piggy?

This website may of be some help to you in figuring it out.

I *think* what you have said will be okay for 3 piggies, but will need to be expanded for room for a fourth. However, don't quote me on that; it's too early for maths so there's a good chance I've mis-calculated!

Just remember that when calculating floor space for piggies, only the size of one floor is counted, so even with adding an upper level, a 2x4 will be too small for 4 piggies. I have a 2x5 at the moment with 2 adult sows and 1 baby sow, and I think even that's a little cramped when I look at it. :))

I have decided to do a 2x5 :)

I've just ordered two white book cases from Argos for the cage to sit on so just the correx now and then it's all systems go! :)

I'm stuck on getting the last thing for my c&c-CORREX!

Where is the best and cheapest place on line?
I've looked at some companies and they are in packs, it's the same on eBay.
Also what size will I need for a 5x2 cage? Confused ?/

What bedding are you planning on using? And how big will they area underneath the raised C&C be?

When i first did my c&c with correx i was using fleece which was too big, it was a real pain to get the fleece to fit the size of the base, i had to tuck it all underneath the towels and everything, it was really awkward.

If your using fleece and the support of the cage is greater than the size of the cage, why not just use a shower curtain as a base, then your usuall, newspaper, towels and fleece?

If your using shavings, which i now remember you do, i think...? then yes a base with sides would be better to prevent mess being kicked everywhere.

Protection.co.uk sell proplex it is unbranded correx called proplex sold in 8ftx4ft sheets so one sheet would do your cage with sides and this is £10 + postage which is from £10, great customer service and the courier gives you a time and day etc, I think brains not working so dont quote me on if one sheet is enough but I'm sure it is. Buy the 4mm or 5mm thick and its super sturdy and robust. I use the 5mm without grids as a correx tray cage and its perfectly strong and sturdy I even hang 1 litre water bottles off it!

I had the teacratepackaging stuff and thought it was rubbish really and not much cheaper, youd need two of the teacratepackaging sheets. This was £3.98 a sheet so nearly £8 + £8 postage. This is only 2mm thick so flimsy.

I will be using newspaper ond hay which I use now so I will want sides definately.
What size would you recommend for a 5x2?
Is there anyone on line who sells single sheets?/

This is where I got mine, not sure if it is big enough though as I have a 2x4. It should be though because I've got a 1x2 hay loft as well.

I got the green correx and it is great quality. It is very durable and even though I scored the correx wrong first time and despite it now having lots of chew marks, it is still as strong as it was when I first got it. Just don't make the silly mistake of scoring it too big - as I did, which has resulted in the cage having a score down one of the sides!

I've just found some on The one stop plastics shop.
They do single sheets for £6.00 (black) the size is 1.22m 1.22m-I'm not very good with sizes :(

I know what you mean, I can't work it out either, I had mine last september and it needs replacing now as I bought the 2mm stuff. I have a double decker c&c and the top pair have chewed theirs, the bottom pairs has a split in it so want thicker stuff, am thinking of going with the first link, chiltern timber, and will buy 2 sheets. First time i bought 3 and it was too much and I have two 2x4 cages?

I want a 2mm for the cage and a 4mm for it to rest on so it can rest on two book shelves either end.

1.22m is = to 122cm

according to guineapigcages a 5x2 C&C is 180cm x 68 cm

The correx you were looking at has a size of 122cm x 122cm

I got mine from there, it's strong 4mm thick plastic. I joined 2 pieces together with weatherproof tape from Wickes (Stick it on the outside) then cut it to fit using this as a guide:

I have 3 piggies in a 5 x 2 & it is plenty of room, they also have floor time in a larger space too. If you are thinking of a 4th piggy I would go to 6 x 2 if you can.

:)
