My OH has agreed to let me have the piggies in the living room :yahoo:

The space available is 100cm x 130cm and i have a c&c cage.

I currently have 2 sows, and another older sow in quarantine (she arrived saturday  ) and my plan is to introduce her in a few weeks. I also know of another sow who needs a new home...

So my questions is as title really, would that size c&c be big enough for 3 possibly 4?

If the new sow doesn't bond, i can make a stacked cage of the above dimensions so could have 2 pairs of 2, but i want to try them in together first :)

120 by 60 is the absolute minimum for two sows. For four sows I would have at least 5 by 3. I had to get rid of furniture to fit in my 8 by 3 but it was worth it.

I worked that out to be 1.3msq, and going by the guinea pig cages site, that's over the minimum size for 4.... confused!

They need a lot more room than people think. I would leave it at three. The more space they have the more likely they will get on. If you get a c&c you can make it whatever shape you want to fit the space you have

So for 3, 1.2msq is the preferred, mine would be 1.3msq so should be fine. Let's hope they get on ok!

I do already have a c&c cage, and i have more grids ordered, so will customise the cage to the dimensions i said.

The ground space you are proposing works out above the recommended RSCPA minimum space requirement for 4 sows if my maths is right. The minimum for 4 piggies is 2x6 ft (60x180 cm).

However, if you want to go for four piggies in that space, I would recommend to provide some generous upper story space to give them the opportunity to get away from each other or make sure that they get plenty of roaming time.

I could either build a kitchen loft at one end, or as i have a 2 grid high stand, i could make the middle layer into a second floor with a ramp, that would give 4 piggies plenty of room :D

i am moving a wardrobe . At the moment have to walk through the group of five cage to get to the quartet cage. One cage 5x3, other cage will be 5x5 when wardrobe moved. Hay, finacard, fleeces, newspaper was all in room with cages, now on shelves in hall and by front door.Never mind, piggies more important than tidy hall
