Will They Come Round Eventually?

Hi everyone

My boys are around 4 months old and ive had them since late March.

They will sit on my lap and let me stroke them while having a treat, but then they usually want to get off, they dont really ever just sit there happily.

Sometimes when in the hutch or pen they will let me stroke them/ rub their chin.

I chat to them a lot, am always gentle etc.. I am always seeing people talking about their pigs loving a cuddle, falling asleep on their laps etc, do u think this is likely to ever happen? I dont think they were ever handled before i got them

I just love them and would be so in heaven if i got a cuddle lol!

i dont think they will be able to resist you , a nice kind caring owner what more could they want , good luck i am trying to do the same with my 2 girls i am taking it very slowly at the moment you are a few steps ahead of me....

All mine will happily sit and be petted, one of my girls in particular loves sitting with me and yesterday she laid with me for an hour. I don't know what I did to make them like it though? I persistently hand feed them and touch them when they're eating and I frequently have them out for petting time, that's about it maybe they just need more time? I've had mine for about 4 months I think. Oh and they also live in our living room so they're very used to hearing us.

I think it very much depends on piggy personality. I've had my boys for more than 3 years now. One has always been a cuddle pig who will lay on my lap or curl up in the crook of my arm for a long time. The other only stays as long as I'm feeding him. However, he loves having his back stroked while he stretches out on the sofa beside me.

Your boys are still very young! It takes a lot of time to build up their trust, especially with youngsters I suggest you sit in a run with them, let them come up to you & sniff you etc, feed them some nice veggies by hand to earn their trust. If you have to handle them, I recommend doing so after they have been fed as they are definitely calmer then. A hungry piggy is always very excitable & twitchy & won't settle as well! Mine are 4 & 3 years old & even now I wait until they have been fed before we have cuddles

Thanks so much everyone. I tried a different position today, i kind of laid down (my usual laptime position is cross legged on the floor, I'm too scared to sit on the sofa in case they fall/jump off and injure themselves). Monty was still only interested as long as the parsley lasted then made for the sofa (thank god hes too fat to get under it).

But Waylon lay there for 10 mins while i stroked him, stretched out and making a gentle talking noise. It was probably a one off, but at least i got my 10 mins of heaven!
