As some of you may or may not know, my Ella had her bottom incisor extracted nearly 3 weeks ago after she broke it vertically below the gum line and it caused her great pain and other difficulties. The vet tried to get as much of the root out as he could without causing permeant damage to her jaw. My question is, will her incisor grow back or will she always have 3 teeth? My concern is that if it grows back and the original problems reoccur 😞

Hi @Claire W. You will just have to wait and see I’m afraid. My Pepper is doing great with only 3(sometimes 3 and a thin strip). Have a look on his thread at page 14 and 15 for photos.

Dental? Pepper is off to the vets tomorrow

We weren’t sure about Pepper as we didn’t know if his abscess had killed the root or not. But if your vet got the root out I would assume it won’t grow back (but it might).

Keep an eye on her weight. As long as that is ok then she’s managing fine.

Thank you. I followed your thread 🙂 I’m so glad Pepper is doing well now. I’m kind of hoping her tooth doesn’t grow back as I don’t want it to cause her any further problems and she seems to be coping without it just fine and her weight is slowly increasing x

If they removed all of the root, then it shouldn’t grow back.

Thank you. I’m not sure if he managed to get the whole root out or not. He tried his best but didn’t want to damage her jaw. So far it hasn’t showed signs of growing back and it’s been 3 weeks tomorrow? How long would it take to grow back if it’s going to? x

My piggies tooth broke just at the gum line it was back to normal in 2 weeks. So you may have been seeing something by now if it was growing back. But if it does grow back it may grow back just fine.
