It is a noisy household (3 little boys), but if we move our piggies into our house, do you think they will ever become a little tamer? At the moment they run for cover whenever they see our noisy tribe (though we do get them out to play)

Thank you.

Well, are piggies live in our front room. I have to little boys aged 4 & 3 and they can be abit noisy at times. To begin with, they would run for cover, but after a while, they did get used to it. The kids can play and I can even use my hoover, and George and Alfie don't bat an eyelid, they just carry on with their business:). I think they just recognise that some load noises aren't a threat, although it does take time.

I wouldn't want me piggies to be anywhere else, this way I can keep a close eye on them and they are very at ease around my children, which is important to me. Plus they get at least 6 hours floor time each day! They also like to sit by my kitchen door when I'm making dinner and Wheek at me for veg:)).

I'm sure they will settle down in the end, you just have to give it time xx:)

The more that you handle piggies and the more normal day-to-day noises that they get accustomed to, the more friendly they will become.

It might take a while, and even when they are really tame, they will still run for cover on occasions and give you a "run for your money" when you try to catch them. But when you have gained their trust, the rewards will be immense.

If you have young children, perhaps sit the children down with a old towel on their lap for quiet "piggy lap time". Let the pigs escape onto the floor if they want and reward the piggies confidence with veggie treats.

It can take time though ... and even when you have managed it, it is a guinea pigs natural instinct to be timid.
