i have a c&c cage, I cant remember what it is called but i know you need to put some kind of plastic at the bottom, i have this plastic that used to be the roof of my bike shelter, it is wavy but if i put newspaper and towels and some fleece over it will it be fine for the guinea pigs?

Correx is the plastic that's usually used. I'm not sure I would want to use the wavy plastic- is it a hard corrugated plastic? Only because even with a covering I would be concerned about the effect on piggy feet (I may be being over cautious though). Also if they managed to chew on it, it might splinter.

Correx is the stuff that estate agent signs are made of. You might be able to pick up some old ones free and tape them together. Correx is corrugated but it is soft so cushions the feet when it's walked on.

thanks, where do you think i could get free ones or do you know where any cheap ones are?

What bedding are you planning on using? If you're gonna use fleece you can just put some kind of plastic underneath, like a plastic tablecloth or the kind of plastic that's used to cover windows when they are being repaired or even cut up heavy duty rubbish bags and then put the newspaper/towels or whatever you're gonna use and then the fleece on top. I used it for months and it worked great.

Another option, if you have some left over from renovations or so, would be lino/plastic carpet.

You can ask in an estate agents if they have any old ones (they have to pay to get rid of them so they may just give you some). Otherwise you can buy a big sheet of correx 8ft x 4ft for about £7 from Travis Perkins (a builders merchant) if there is one near you.
You can also get it online. I think the tea crate packing people do a good deal.

The ideas above are good too. I use plastic tablecloth for floortime.
