Will He Be Infected?

So, a family member has a cold, and I read that when a human has a cold they're vulnerable to bacterial infections that can be passed easily to guinea pigs. I tried telling him not to stroke the boys but he just stroked Godfrey's headwill he be okay? Will wipe with a baby wipe just in case, but I'm worried now. Hearing "oh, I'm sure he'll be okay" from people isn't really reassuring me!

I really wouldn't worry about it too much. Most human viruses are not transmissible to our cavy chums. As the main carer for our piggies I have had many colds over the years and none have made my piggies poorly. But good hand hygiene is always advisable in any event.

Good! I can't imagine any germ taking on Godfrey, he's so strong-willed!

Most human colds aren't transmissible to guinea pigs. If it makes you feel better, I have had pigs for years in a house with three kids... someone always has a cold, and when the kids were younger, they were probably not that great with handwashing and avoiding pets when sick. Thus far, we've never passed an illness on to the pigs. I think in all likelihood, he will be just fine.
