its basically a two level 120cm long cage.

I cannot have a c&c cage due to needing to move it frequently id rather pay more for something thats easier to move tbh!

I know a 120 cage is the minimum for two pigs so my thinking was that the two level offers a little more than this but doesnt take up any more space in my house

My other thoughts were buying a liberta 150 or ferplast 140 but these wont fit as nicely in my space.

think old tiny street house, the 120 cm length would fit beautifully in my alcove and therefore not be in the way

is that two tier cage suitable? or would I be better off with a liberta 150/ferplast 140?

that cage would be suitable for 2 piggies. However, If you had two boys I might be inclinded to go bigger if you had room as it minimises the risk of them falling out.

If you have a Jolleys Pet store near you, check out their range of 2 and 3 tiers (altho I've read the 3 tiers are really for chinchillas and rats ets). Anyway, they had a good selection at the best prices I've found so far, even on the net...:o

I think those ramps in those kind of cages are bad for the piggies back. Ive read that before and any i have seen up close, the ramps are really steep. They are designed more for rabbits etc.

But i know with ramps if you make a few piles of things at the end you can make them less steep :) so it's better, just with a brick or some other items :)

I'd say that cage is great ! the two levels will mean if your piggies get a little annoyed with each other, that one can go upstairs and the other can stay upstairs, it looks smart too :) just remember that with hay racks like these ones are quite big so add a bit of length or width onto your cage.

only if you REALLY low on floor space.
You can buy 2 cages and connect them - they take double space on floor but GPs get more space due to not bridge in the middle and much safe.

I would not get this cage. The Ferplast 140 is more suitable. How about changing furniture around so you can get a c and c cage? That would be ideal.

I still wouldnt risk it, but thats just my opinion. I wouldn't even put my rabbit in one of them.

Hi there!
I have this exact cage, and it's good but the essegi one is better if you can afford it or can find it cheap.
I personally think it's great, particularly for my two boys who need to get well away from each other from time to time!
I've read that little steps and ramps can help keep piggies agile, and I've seen tonnes of experienced owners c&c cages and hutches on here with ramps, so I'd be surprised to learn that they were putting their guinea pigs at risk.
Yes, the ramp in this cage is far too steep, but we built a platform, and the essegi one already has it built in, to rest it on and make it less steep and take it off the floor. I'd definitely also recommend a ramp tunnel, or something similar, it makes it safer and adds to their fun. More on my cage here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=73166
If you have more space then obviously the bigger cage the better, but
this cage suits our space perfectly and we give them lots of floor time too.
Hope that helps, any questions, just ask.

Thanks for all the responses guys :-) it is appreciated that you all went to the effort to respond to me.

However, I shall not be purchasing a shop bought cage and my mum just gave me an old puppy play pen that is going to give the pigs 12 sq ft/1.15 sq m approx of space which is better than the 8.5 sq ft/0.8 sq m/. For free this seems like an offer I cannot refuse. The cage will long and thin at 62 x 186 cm/ 2ft x 6.1ft. For a pair of pigs this will be a great space from what I have read, the puppy pen is also really quite tall so it could easily have another level installed on it to add more space later.

I have also been given a piece of cushioned lino flooring to use as the base that is big enough to build sides with and tape together, it has enough rigidity to be used as a base for the cage, but also it can be folded up and moved easily , as can the puppy pen so this means when required I can just pop the piggies in the yard, fold up the pen and flooring, take it upstairs unfold it pop pigs back in literally 5 minutes. I wouldnt fancy that with c&c held together with those corners and cable ties and huge bits of correx though which is why I didnt want to go that way and was going to purchase a £150 cage because that would be easy to pick up and move, the puppy pen is designed to fold up flat in minutes so is perfect.

Ill post pics when the set up is final

Sounds like you've dropped lucky there. Ypu can still put a correx base in if you want to. It's good that you took the time and responsibility to research your original pen choice.
Can't wait to see the pictures.

ta **!

That's agreat start for them, lots of space to run around in.

6ft x 2ft or if I make it a square it would be 4ft x 4ft , but for now the oblong suits my room better and if needs be later on ill make it a square or add in another pen and make it huge!!
