Sorry I haven't been around for ages but in May we rescued 66 piggies from one address and they were completely wild. All crammed in to filthly stinking cages that clearly hadnt been cleaned out for months, rarely fed, often without water and never handled. The owner was oblivious to fact that they needed fresh veg. They were so scared of people that they literally ran up the sides of their cages (like a cartoon character) in panic. At first it took several people to just to catch even one piggie as they would hurt themselves throwing themselves into walls trying to get away. I am sure they had endured the most awful existence.
Many had wounds, most were vitamin defficient. All very thin. Some pregnant. Babies having babies. Lots of interbreeding. It has been a mammoth task caring for them, getting them tame(r) fit and well. We can see a big difference in all of them though some are progressing at different levels.

One big old boar now named Sebastion has bonded with me to the extent that he forcefully and jealously shoved his cage mate out of the cage when I went to pick Paddington up instead of him. Thankfully I caught him with a "save" that was worthy of a world cup match and he was fine. But I think its he first time in their lives that these poor piggies have known any love and affection and Sebastion simply didnt want to share it.

The new intake pushed all resources here to the limit physical and financial and it feels like its been a very long and tiring summer but it feels like there is light at the end of the tunnel.

My God, who would do that to any animal? D:
Glad to hear they get a happy ending, by being saved from that horrible place! (:

OMG those poor little piggies :(

THANKYOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH for rescuing them and giving them the chance to have lovely forever homes where they'll be loved and cared for xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Those poor piggies. I am sure they are very, very thankful to you.

I must admit, Sebastian sounds cute, bless him. He was probably just so grateful and loving the attention that he is being a tad selfish. He's probably scared he will lose it.

What a fantastic job you and the others have done for them. I'm sure they are much happier now. =)

wow well done, they are very lucky you were around to help them. You should be very proud of what you have acheived.

Sebastion sounds very cute.

You sound like a piggie angel, they are very lucky. Thank you for taking on such a huge task, can't wait for some pigtures. :)

nice to see you back. :)

So upsetting to hear about these babies, so glad they are with you now, poor little things.

Good luck with them xx

Oh my goodness, that must have been a horrific experience for you and the piggies...the mind boggles :(

I hope that the person responsible will be dealt with, and that they are banned from keeping any animal again.

Those poor piggies 8...

I'm so glad these piggies found there way to

Oh my god, what an awful situation they were in. Glad they are all safe now. Bless Sebastian, he obviously loves all the attention he's been getting.

Suze definitely [*]IS[/*] a piggie angel - Cavy Corner is a wonderful place, and any piggie who ends up there knows they'll be safe and loved for the rest of their lives.

Well done.

Well done for managing such a mammoth task!

I am glad to hear the poor pigs are on their way back to health.

Is there anything you still need help with? I'm too far away to be much use but I can try!

I hope they all get the loving homes they deserve. 66 is a big number to care for...

Oh my god what poor little piggies. How awful for them. You are doing such a wonderful job of caring for them. Well done. I really hope they can all be housed. When I read stories like this I so wish I could afford more piggies. I really hope their owner gets punished for this.

Gosh, another terrible case :( huge well done and thank you to you for working so hard to give these piggies the life they deserve!

What an amazing amount of work and care to take on.... I was once involved in rescuing 2 yearling shire horses who had been starved as they were kept on a bowling green:( It took so much energy and effort by many that I just can't imagine what is involved rescuing and rehabilitating 66 badly treated animals. Lots of luck for all the piggies and carers:)

PS Apologies Cavy Corner for my PM a few days ago - seems trivial when reading this.:red
