Why is my guinea pig popping boners?

Whenever my guinea pig wakes up from a nap, he does this weird thing where he just stands still, begins to spasm, pops his penis out, begins biting it and then retracts it. The first time i seen this happen i was mortified. I Did NOT know that was a thing. But I'm not sure if it's uncommon as I seen someone's chinchilla do it. Is this a bad thing or is it just natural? I'm more curious as i am worried.

It's very worrying the first time you see it happen. Glad you've got a clean boy. We've had boys that need regular cleaning due to smeg and hairs getting wrapped up round their penis.
