i just noticed my guinea pig is bleeding from her vagina and also has gunk mixed in it why could this be also can guinea pigs get mites

There are several reasons why a guinea pig might bleed, all of which warrant a trip to the vet. For example, she could have a UTI, bladder stones, or something going on with her lady parts (check out Glynis' thread "Velvet has been bleeding "). No matter what the problem is, she needs to be seen by a cavy savvy vet. And yes, guinea pigs can get mites. Do you suspect that she has some?

yeah i do as my snakes have mites and they are become ill very fast and losing weight my lil girl nearly died ten mins ago but i warmed her up n she seems ok just a bit iffy with her back legs

Did you feed her anything red? Apples, strawberry, raspberry ect. I had this problem when I fed Rusty apple skins, I just simply peel the skin, but I wouls suggest taking your piggie to a vet ASAP.

I am sorry to hear that you have lost another of your guinea pigs.

From the info in your other posts you have lost a lot of pigs over a short time. It may be wise to delay getting more pigs until you work out why this keeps happening. It may be from a transmittable disease carried by another animal, the wrong diet, temperature issues, disease/issues from where they wer bred/bought. Bleeding from the back end can signal bladder/uterine problems (query possible pregnancy), it can also be an indicator of organ failure - kidney/liver (query toxins from food/environment).

Do you have any more guinea pigs? I do hope that they are well and happy, fingers crossed they are going to be ok.

i have a feeling it was the inclouser they were in we r now think it was treated wood n they chewed it i have put the remaning two in a new enclosure the male is going really good the female is getting there eating small amounts they both are not running around much but they r now in my room so will see how they go or its the pet store i got them from cause every single guinea pig i got from there died

You have to be really careful if you have snakes because of the risk of salmonella, this is a bacterial infection that can be passed onto other animals and humans. Symptoms include:

Dull and depressed appearance
Loss of appetite
Weight loss
Enlarged spleen and liver, and swollen lymph nodes around the neck
Inflammation of the eye
Fever
Dehydration
Rough body coat

Maybe it would be worthwhile taking your other pets to a vet to get checked out.

I'd ask your parents to go into that pet store and tell them what horrible things have been happening! They obviously are not checking the little ones before selling them! ooh this makes me so mad!
Please don't buy from them again, you'd be better off going to a local rescue (RSPCA) or even checking the ACS website (australian cavy sanctuary) they're based in QLD NSW and Victoria.
Here's their link

Get your next piggies from a rescue. Get a new cage. All you can do now is prevent the accident from happening again. I am VERY sorry for your little one:0:08...8...8...
