Hi everyone :)

I have 2 boars who are 2 years old. I bought them together as babies and they have loved each other from day one. They are in a 4 x 2 c&c.

They live in my lounge and four days ago there seemed to be a bit of a disagreement going on which involved alot of wheeking and rumbling. Must be having an off day i thought and left them to it, however the next morning things were still the same and at one point they had locked jaws together. I seperated them immediately using grids to split the cage in two. Thought maybe they needed time apart to cool off. When i checked them over one of the boys had a cut on his ear.

I left them seperated for a couple of days during which time they were occasionally sleeping together on either side of the grids. I have put them back together this afternoon but it doesn't look great. No fighting as yet but alot of dominant behaviour and they have only been together half an hour!

Any ideas how this could have happened after all this time and is the relationship doomed?

They are in the same room as sows, but have been for over a year, and as i said, never been any problems before.

Has this happened to anyone else after this length of time together? Just can't understand why. :(

Fall outs can sadly happen at any time with either gender. Adult fall outs are much rarer than with boars in puberty, but sadly not nil.

How are your boys getting on now? Has there been any fighting?

Sometimes, adult boars that have fallen out can be reintroduced after a few months or even a year apart when they have mellowed enough. So even if this try does not work, all is not lost forever. Just keep them next to each other, so they can stay in contact.

Thank you Wiebke.

They're still together at the moment, there's alot of teeth chattering and chasing going on so i'm just keping an eye and hoping for the best.
