Over the years we see some of our pigs stand still and then judder almost in a trance so we chase them and they run off and no more juddering, but why do they do it ?

is there another pig in there to?

because it sounds like a dominance thing just trying to figure out whos the boss (:

Not the one I have noticed recently he lives on his own, he does it in his home or when he's out on the floor for a run, he only does it occasionally but it always concerns me.

I'm not sure then, I'm sure someone will come along that knows (:

Not quite sure what you mean by 'juddering' but I'm a bit alarmed that you chase them....................:(

Chase may have been the wrong word, played would be better.

I'm going to try and explain it a bit better in case anyone has come across this before. Rhino is a boar who has just turned 1. He is loving, talkative and probably the happiest little boy we have ever met (have had guinea pigs for 20 years plus).
Rhino occasionally will sit and "judder" in a rhythmic way almost like a very heavy breath on each exhale, when he is on the floor and does this we will go to him and play and stroke him and it will stop, when he is in his hutch or on our laps stroking him may stop it. It is quite frightening to see. Rhino also has had the odd occasion of appearing to be "spaced out" his eyes go blank and appear to bulge very slightly. The juddering and blankness do not happen at the same time. He does not lay on the ground and twitch, he does not salivate, everything else appears normal. Today he underwent a personality change lasting about 12 hours as I'm typing this he is chatting and popcorning as usual but all day he has been very quiet. It sounds like he is having siezures what does everyone think? has anyone come across this before? as we havent.
