Hi,
We have had a couple of incidents recently that whilst we are holding our guinea pigs, they decide to urinate on us.
Is this normal or aren't they happy whilst being held?
Many thanks for any help or advice

My girls have never peed on me. My boy now is a different story. When a piggys got to go he's got to go.

Usually there are subtle signs they need to wee. They may nip, bite clothes, look up at you or fidget. Are you holding them for a long time? Guinea pigs have little bladders anf need to wee often so I dont hold mine for long.

Just part of being a piggie owner! I use a waterproof lap pad. Except tonight I didn't, had a little wet patch!

I've been peed on several times! Today I had them on a towel yet still managed to have my arm in the wrong place at the wrong time! My boys don't seem to give any warning - they just go when they need to go!

Phew glad I'm not the only one who has been christened lol. Bless the little ha ha - love them loads :-)

My piggy scooby always weed on everyone with no signs at all... Infact posted a thing because I only just got them and was worried about water infections etc. but someone told me it may be his age. It's only been a few weeks since then, maybe he just got used to me and being handled or he just needed to age a little bit but now he fidgets before he needs to go and looks for his cosy. So if they young/ new they may just be the same and will grow out of it... Obviously there are always going to be the odd few accidents but it's not every time anyone handles him :)

Thanks for all your advice and reassurance. Our guinea pigs are only 10 weeks old so maybe they are still getting used to us. They were well handled before we had them but everyone in our family wants to hold them so obviously the piggies have to relieve themselves if they're out of the cage for too long - oops!
Hopefully we will all get used to each other soon and the accidents will be a little less frequent :-)
Thanks again for your help/advice
