Everything happens at once doesn’t it?
So I had an appointment booked with the exotic vet tomorrow for Henry, To take a look at his lumps under his armpits.
Typically in true Maude style, Henry’s Wife Maude gave herself haypoke on Saturday night (AGAIN!). Was completely cloudy, I have antibiotic eye jel that I am applying. It’s healing okay. But should probably get that eye checked out as surely she must be losing vision in it by now with the amount of hay pokes she’s had.

But then last night Newtons breathing sounded terrible! His chest sounded awful and I could hear it from ages away. But happily popcorning and eating etc. i immediately started him on baytril and Metacam and thought I will take him to the vet with Henry on Tuesday.
But this morning I can no longer hear any bad breathing.. BUT His undercarriage is all wet and smelly?! However I’m wondering if that from the new fleece I put in the cage last night and perhaps it’s not absorbent yet and his long hair has soaked up the wee instead?

I phoned the vet. There is only time to see ONE pig tommorow. I said I will bring Maude along with Henry as they can share a carrier and IF the vet has time he can quickly look at her eye that’s great, but if not..I understand. (Only exotic vet in the area- SUPER Busy always)
They have managed to squeeze me another appointment on Friday evening thankfully.
But my question is who should I prioritise for tomorrow’s appointment?

Henry- Lumps noticed 2 weeks ago.
Maude- Eye always looks dodgy. But the haypoke is fresh yet healing from what I can tell.
Newton- Acting and eating fine but very strange loud chesty noises last night. Plus wet undercarriage today. Poops look good.

Aghhh?!?

That's a hard decision.
Was it Newton's chest or just something that got in his nose?
Vicky sounds horrible sometimes but in her case it's just something that blocks her nose a bit.

I would probably give Newton the first appointment and take the other two on Friday.

It’s a tough decision as eyes can deteriorate if left untreated. If it were me, I’d perhaps leave Henry until Friday and take Newton but ask if they are willing to give you some more eye drops / pain relief for Maude if you explain she has a hay poke and take her along too just in case they do have the time to see her? However, if Maude’s eye looks bad, I’d have her seen first in case she has something stuck under her eyelid x

Thank you both for your replies! You’re both right and I agree that Newton should be seen tomorrow.
I have phoned the vet and let them know I have switched it around and Henry will now be seen on Friday. I’m quite confident in that Maudes eye is healing like it always does..somehow..her eyes must be made out of steel?!.. But I will try and take her along on Friday for a checkup. I have plenty of eyedrops and metacam to last me until then.

Since phoning the vet to tell them Newton will be seen tomorrow..Guess what Newton is currently doing?
He’s having floortime and POPCORNING around  🤣 And I cannot hear ANY sign of a URI. And his bottom area is drying up making me feel it was perhaps the non absorbing fleece.
Oh well, better safe than sorry to see the vet with him in the morning.
These pigs, costing me a fortune

You see in this photo, the white and black smear next to Olive in the hay box..That’s Newton, Popcorning a few inches in the air, he’s feeling great apparently…
:hmm::bronco:

Omg what a dilemma ! I think you’re right to take Newton tomorro just to be sure - dear lovely Maude …..what is she doing 🥰
Hopefully Henry’s lumps haven’t changed just those pesky fatty ones - these are the reasons you work Hannah ….not to provide a roof/ happy surroundings /food/ luxuries for you and Jon …….but all for your lovely animals ❤️🥰

Thank you everyone!
So I took Newton to the vet yesterday, and I also bought along Henry and Maude but left them in the car. I thought I’d take them just incase there was a cancellation or something.
Newton presented well with no signs of illness, but to continue a course of baytril for 7 days just incase there is something there that I just got on top of super quick.
Vet said he’d like to have look at Maudes eye to check it hadn’t Ulcered, so I quickly ran out to the car to get her. Which was kind of him as he’s so busy.
Maudes eye was all good! Just to continue with the jel for 5 days.

I had to cancel Henry’s appointment on Friday as I won’t finish work on time unfortunately. But I’ll get him re-booked in as soon as I can.

So glad that both Newton and Maude have been checked and are doing well 🙂 I found two small lumps near Ella’s nipple last week but we couldn’t fit her in to see the small animal and our favourite vet until Monday 25th as it isn’t urgent and he gets booked up fast. Fingers crossed that both Ella and Henry’s lumps are just fatty. I’m sure Henry can wait a little longer to see the vet x

Thank you Claire!
It’s a worry isn’t it when you find lumps! I’m quite certain that Henry’s are fatty lumps, but don’t want to jinx anything!
Fingers crossed to Henry and Ella that it’s nothing we need to stress about xx

Thank you. I’m pretty sure that Ella’s are fatty as well because they feel like her other fatty lumps but I’m just concerned as to where they’re located so want her checking. Glad Henry’s lumps feel fatty too but yes, it’s wise to have any lumps checked x

Good news about Newton & Maude! I know it's nervewracking when all of them have something going on at the same time!
Fingers crossed Henry's lumps are just fatty! Keep us posted, you are a good pig mama!
