Who leaves their light on for their piggys? i do when i go to school, but do i need to?

Well when we first took our two foster boys in we had to leave the light on for them on a night time as Max would constantly chew his cage until we turned the light on. We've eventually weaned them off having the light on, and I think they're more settled in now so they feel more contented. Though I still leave the landing light on and their door open as they're upstairs and I don't want them sitting in darkness all the time, especially as our tribe downstairs always have the light on ( obviously, as we're sat downstairs as well and don't sit in darkness! ) so I try to treat them the same as our own

All my are covered in fleese when its night time, the babie pigs are always in the hall so always have the light on, I used to think it was quite horrible, how would they ever get any sleep with a light lol.

Sorry I meant we leave the landing light on until we go to bed, and obviously we switch the lights off downstairs when we go to bed. Basically whilst we're up the lights stay on!

I leave the lights on for the girls when its dark ( only when we are up) it makes it easier to spot them and just in case the cat thinks its tea time.

Nope, I do however keep the heating on!

No, the lights are only on in the playroom if there is a person in there. Electricity bills are high enough without leaving lights on in a room we aren't using.

I don't leave the heating on either.

They don't seem to care if it is light or dark, I have always assumed they can see in the dark - they certainly seem to eat plenty overnight!

My herd are in the living room and we have the lights on when we are up. The foster boys are in the bedroom and we leave the side light on for them.

If I'm going out during the evening and it's going to be dark, then I leave the hall light on for the pigs. Otherwise they put themselves to bed and when I come in later they seem to think it's breakfast time already. :(|)

i leave the light and radio on for my guineas in the outhouse and heater on if needed..

but my skinny pigs who are in the livingroom, i now turn the light off as ive found they settle better with the lights off :)

My piggy lives in my bedroom so the lights on as long as I'm there in the morning/evening. Light goes out when I go to bed and curtains are open during the day for natural light. He has a little den which is dark that he can sleep in. :)

I have a salt lamp next to my boys cage which is always on. Its more like a night light as it doesn't give off much light. I bought it in a salt mine in Poland as it is supposed to be good for lungs. The horses who worked in the mines lived really long and healthy lives as the salt in the atmosphere is good apparently so I leave the light on in the hope that my pig will live long and healthy lives. bit silly really....:red:red:red

I leave the light on for my piggies.

I'm a bit nocturnal myself, so I try to keep the lights on to simulate daylight, then 9 hours of darkness when I sleep.

I have a basement room, so if I didn't leave the lights on, they would be in the dark all the time.

Mine are in the garden, so if the moon's out, the lights on, if it isn't, the light's off!

Considering they seem happiest having examinations/hair cuts etc hidden under a towel, I don't think having the lights off is detrimental to their happiness.

I turn the light off in the piggies room when I go to bed. They seem to sense its quiet time and dont make much noise through the night now.. I also have a radio playing in their room but this also gets switched off at night,:))

I don't leave the lights on. If I forget to switch them off, Smokey buries himself under the fleeze.
