My 6 year old Dale got into a small disagreement with his 2 baby brothers which resulted in a few scratches on his face. I cleaned it but the next day he had a brownish yellow scab covering most of his mouth and lips. While I was cleaning it off, I lifted up his front lip and saw 2 whitish/yellowish spots under/on the side of his teeth. So totally unrelated things here but my main concern is these spots. His lip crusting looks like Cheilitis which I know can be treated with Nystatin but these spots?! Are they extra teeth?

Backstory, he has been losing weight for about a year now. Had an xray, multiple rounds of antibiotics and steroids and nothing changed. He eats but doesn't gain much. Not a great picture but he wasn't havin it 🤦‍♀️

I’m afraid we can’t tell you what it is, the picture isn’t clear enough but it would require a vet to have a hands on check to diagnose the issues.

Any piggies whom have had a fight need to be separated. Boar trios are notoriously difficult to get to work and most sadly do fail.

Are you syringe feeding him?

Thank you so much for responding! He has a vet visit Monday but they don't have anything sooner (It's Wednesday). So Dale is alone in his cage. This happened during playtime with the others and they were separated right away. He's eating fine so I haven't syringe fed him yet. I will try to get a better picture tonight. It's driving me crazy and I have to wait until Monday to find out!

He should not have playtime with the others. They must always be kept apart and have playtimes separately. To piggies, each meeting is a bonding session, they don’t realise it’s only temporary play, so they go through the process of starting to form a hierarchy, which as I said generally doesn’t work between three boars. The fights occur because they cannot do it. This also has the potential to destroy the bond between the two babies as well. Please don’t allow them out at the same time.

Generally they are losing weight because their hay intake isnt sufficient (it can be because of medical conditions such as thyroid issues) and you cannot judge hay intake by eye so stepping in and offering supplemental feeding to prevent further weight loss is important. It can also happen in older piggies that they lose condition so he may not regain lost weight at this point.
How much weight has he lost?
