Hello,

I have a vet appointment booked but I am a chronic worrier and so I thought I’d pop on here for some advice! Does this white fleck look like anything to worry about? It’s not bothering him in the slightest, he’s eating, drinking and acting normally, but I’m pretty new to owning piggies and so need some advice!

Does he try scratching at it? It's possible that a piece of hay could've poked at his eye. Keep us updated on what the vet says please.

Here's another post I found from not too long ago that may give you some good info:
White Spots In Eyes?

Looks like it might be a hayseed trapped under the eyelid. If it is it will be very painful. The vet will get it out and prescribe some eyedrops to make the eye better. The vet will also put some special dye in the eye to check for any damage. When is the appointment?

Hi and welcome

It looks like osseous choristoma to me where the normal tissue is replaced with bony tissue. This is not quite uncommon in guinea pigs as they become older. It is not painful and cannot be healed.

No he isn’t bothered by it at all! He is still his happy self so I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about but the vet will let me know for sure.

Thanks for your help. The earliest appointment I could get is on Wednesday.

The vet wasn’t too worried as it seems to have faded since this picture was taken, however she said just to keep an eye on it and come back if it gets any worse. She flushed his eye and didn’t see any redness or sign of irritation so she didn’t want to give him any drugs or eye drops and risk irritating it when it was seemingly okay. It was his first time at the vet and he was very nervous but he did well and is now sat munching on lettuce with his brother :hug:thank you for all of your advice!

Thanks for the update and good to hear it’s nothing to worry about.
