Hi, just after your thoughts on my dilemma (sure I overthink things lol)

Our 2 boars are currently wintering indoors in a R5A 120, and frequently run round in the conservatory (which gets HOT in the summer)

I have just sold there outdoor hutch as it was a pain to clean out. I want to get a really decent run for them, which is where they will be during the warmer days.

However, I do think I need a hutch outside too, incase of rain, hot nights or for when we are out all day in the summer. I wouldn't want to leave them out in the run.

So many options.....

and then

or

with the above hutch

or just a http://www.ukrabbithutches.co.uk/rabbitruns.html with hideys?

What do you all have?

I should warn you, i think my reply is going to be a bit of a downer, sorry :(

First of all, If you plan to leave them with acces to a run all day, they will also need constant unlimited acess to a hutch that is 2ft by 4ft, incase it rains because they will still need the recomended space.

Secondly, any run perminantly attached needs to be completely fox proof, so custom made is the only way i can really think of getting around that one.

Perhaps get a run from:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.tolbert/

They are really good value for money and such good quality (8ft x 4ft is £75 including delivery)

Then look locally for a small hutch as a shelter on ebay or something, there's usually plenty around and if you fully disinfect with hot water and something like Trigene it will be much cheaper then buying new :))

Personally I just have a hidey box which I will put into the run for them in summer, however I have a large canopy that shades them and tunnels, pigloos etc so I don't really think that a hutch that size is necessary

ETA: I won't put them in the run unless I am home in case it rains and because the run isn't predator proof, I can keep an eye on them and bring them in if the weather turns

Thanks for replies.

They would only be in the run when we are home, if it rained I would get them in anyway. The same with fox proofing, a reason I wouldn't leave them in the run whilst I was out hence the fact I need a hutch!

Will have a look at the runs you suggest, thanks.

Ahh! Clearly i missunderstood you, i was thinking you were intending to make the run the new perminant home. mallethead

In which cage, any of those runs would be fine, as long as they have somewhere else to live the rest of the time.

Sorry, my fault!
