Some of you may remember my previous threads where I've been debating over which new cages to get - large commercial or C&C.

I've sadly come to accept that with 2 cats in the house (one with a list of small furry victims) I would not be comfortable with a C&C as I wouldn't trust the sturdiness entirely (unless one of you piggie geniuses can assure me the lids are very sturdy!). But browsing the market for commercial cages, none of them are significantly larger then mine now (roughly a 2X4), so I've been considering buying another of the cage I have now, removing the end and connecting the new one, making a thinnish, long cage.

Is this ok for piggies? At the moment I can't see much alternative for expanding any other way :(

Thank you again guys!

Connecting two traditional cages is perfectly fine.

You can either saw a hole or two into the bottoms and connect the cages with a short piece of drainpipe or create some kind bridge between the two cages if you leave the adjoining sides of the tops open.

I'm throwing caution to the wind and buying a C&C! Now I've just got to make the room for it rolleyes My mum is gonna be so annoyed! :))

What do you guys use as a stand for your C&C's? I'm looking around online and I cannot find a table large enough to hold it!

Have a look at Ikea. I've seen a few members pictures on here who have used tables or units, even book shelves on their sides. Generally quite cheap too.

I've checked the website and can't find anything wide enough :^- Ahhh! I think I'm too excited at the thought of this C&C:))

haha i know what you mean.. cage shopping etc is so exciting! :D I think one member on here used 2 ikea storage things and put them 1 in front of the other to make the width wide enough..i know a picture was posted on here a few weeks ago...will see if i can find the pic/thread..

Just found the pic in the cage thread
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/...r-Gallery-C-amp-C-cages-homemade-cages/page25
it was WonderWoman who posted the pic. Maybe you could PM/ Ask her how much it was from ikea...I'm sure she said it was ikea she got hers from..

I am using two Ikea tables (Linnmon 75x150cm with legs of your choice). If I were you, I'd still fasten a plastic cover over the cage of you can't trust your cat.

Alternatively, you could look at two bookshelves screwed into each other for depth and a two storey cage with storage underneath and above. Use C&C grids for the frontage if you have cats, otherwise, perspex makes a better option. A cheap secondhand chest of drawers could also be an option for a multistory cage.

Thankfully both of the cats are about 16-18 and terrified of the piggies so I'm hoping just putting something on it like a plastic cover will be enough to deter the old dears :))

And the Linnmon range looks very promising actually!Thank you Wiebke :) jenniferanneharris, I will message her and see, those shelves are so pretty!

I will no doubt be non stop uploading pictures when it arrives! And I've bought it with no idea as to where it's going, fingers crossed I can make the space! And thank you for the link, I'm going to see how much they are :)

Well I checked Ikea and to have anything delivered to me I would have to pay £35, which is a little too much for me! I'm going to have a hunt around the charity shops but I'm not holding my breath
