Aubiose or megazorb? I was wondering if Aubiose was less dusty. Anyone use this as a bedding, i know it says that megazorb isnt dusty but i can see dust in the bag and i noticed this was stated on the Aubiose bedding,
'Clearly the best. Apart from significantly cutting down the workload and stable management Aubiose can greatly contribute to the general well being of the horse and rider - Especially if the animal suffers from respiratory problems. Tests carried out at Bristol University proved that the horses suffering from C.O.P.D (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) may be safely bedded on Aubiose. Aubiose Because . . .. Aubiose is derived from the soft centre of the hemp plant. Aubiose is cultivated without pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or insecticides. Aubiose absorbs up to 12 times more urine then straw and 4 times more than shavings.'

Also does the cage stay dry as i think that megazorb is very effective with the wee and haven't noticed any smells.
My pigs are housed indoors.

Thanks.:))

I forgot to ask is it soft like megazorb or hard? As i have two I'm a little concerned about their private areas and dont want bits getting stuck in their or the sharp bits hurting their eyes.

Wasn't there a sticky I saw on the Aubiose one?

Yes but it didn't really give me the answer i was looking for, as i want to know if its soft and not dusty. As a few of the answers said it was and then another not and just wondered if anyone here presently used it so they can be of help.:{

Not got the answer for you tonight but can ask a friend tomorrow!

This won't be a very useful reply because I bought my first bag of Aubiose last Friday, but since nobody else can help...

I'm changing from shavings. The Aubiose looks spiky, but feels quite soft in the hand and softer still when packed down in the hutch. There is a tiny bit of dust (remember I haven't seen the bottom of the bag yet), but I suspect that anything that's been chopped and bagged and transported will generate a bit of dust, if only through friction.

I put hay on top in case bits get where they shouldn't (no idea if it's necessary), for warmth and because my pigs are used to it. It does seem to stay much dryer than shavings. My sow's favourite corner, which is usually sodden, is staying almost dry; all the wee seems to be going through to the newspaper below. Just now I cleared away the soiled hay, performed a nifty trick of sliding a fresh layer of paper beneath the soggy stuff, pulled the wet paper out, rearranged the Aubiose and was left with a dry bed. (I should say the pig was sitting elsewhere at the time).

I chose it because I can get it locally - I've never tried Megazorb. I think it's worth a try.

I am planning on using aubiose in the new year as it is less dusty than megazorb and want something that i can use in the litter tray part i am hoping it does not end up on the carpet as easily....

I don't have carpet issues, but I imagine it might be quite flighty stuff!

No smell.

Hemcore is made from the soft part of hemp stalk and is soft and absorbent similar to aubiose might even be the same under a different name .I use it for my 61 piggies and it is very good.

Yes i did read that hemcore and aubiose is the same stuff but under a different name.mallethead

Do you have boars and do they ever get bits stuck in the 'private areas'? Also is it less dusty than megazorb if you have tried the megazorb that is. I'm keen to know as Gizmo suffers from allergies time to time but i dont know what causing them so i thought it maybe the dust from the megazorb and read that aubiose had no dust?

Thank you.:)

aubiose is less dusty! i am doing a one off megazorb and regretting it... it is all over the carpet but she prefers megazorb for outdoor piggies can't remember why rolleyes

I dont have any problems with the megazorb, i do keep my two indoors but i dont have carpet, its wood floor. Saying that though if i dont hoover up every other day i do tend to find bits of megazorb about. The only reason i wanted to switch is for the dust reason.
Let me know how you get on with the aubiose as ive just started the last sack of megazorb so will be using that for at least another 3 months.rolleyes

Thank you for finding out.:)p

I use auboise all the time for bunnies and piggies. It looks sharp but is actually quite soft. Much less dusty than Megazorb. Very absorbant too. I have boys and have never had a **** with bits getting stuck where it shouldn't.
