Hi all, having doing research for the last 2 months on guinea pigs and rabbits we have finally decided to go for guinea pigs :-) I have looked through pages and pages of hutch setups on this forum and have finalised 2 hutches that I really like, as below
Option 1: 5 ft home and roost rabbit hutch from
https://homeandroost.co.uk/product/rabbit-hutch-chartwell-single-5ft-hutches/
Pros: spacious and seems like good value for money
Cons: would it be hard to clean as it's low down to the ground?
Option 2: Studio home (Long Legs) 5 ft hutch from
Rabbit Hutch Warehouse :: Hutches
Pros: Higher up
Cons: Depth is 18 inch which is only 1.5 feet so a bit narrow imo.

Any advice or recommendations on a suitable hutch would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks,
:-)

I would probably go with the Chartwell to be honest.
It looks really solid and I know lots of members on here have them and say they are well made.
The height can easily be fixed by putting it up on a table, or even just some bricks to get it further off the ground.
This will make easier to clean, as well as stopping heavy rain splashing on the underside which could make it feel damp.
I also liked that it came with the option for an insulated, waterproof cover.

Well done for doing your research in advance, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks, we have some spare bricks that we could use to raise it a little. It's gonna go in the garage as it's now winter time. My husband has also bought a portable heater so they will be warm and toasty in there :-)

chartwell is very well made,ive had mine two years and still no wear.i do have the covers that go with them,as mine go outdoors in the summer.mine are six feet,as the bottom area i use as a run,taken ramp out,so i place the guinea pigs each morning on the bottom floor.Welcome to the Forum.:)

I got a chartwell and feel that it is a bit of a disappointment was expecting it to be made of tongue and groove but only the two side panels are tongue and groove the rest is plywood.

I would go for the budget guinea pig hutch from boyles pet housing;

https://boylespethousing.co.uk/product/budget-guinea-pig-hutches/

I am saving up for one as it looks amazing.
The Boyles hutches look really well made but they are quite expensive. You can always resell your chartwell hutch once you have got a new one ;-)
