I have recently changed from vetbed to fleece, although it is easier to keep clean and wash and dry I am finding I'm having to change the fleece daily, it is becomming very wet and not draining the wee away. Underneath the fleece there is a duvet cover and then disposable puppy pads to keep the hutch floor dry. the fleece was brought at primark its the soft and fluffy type (almost velvet in texture) not the usual 'flat'one that is brought at the pet shop could this be the reason. By the way the fleece is washed in non-bio powder, fabric conditioner is not used then tumbled dried. Thanks.

Polar fleece usually lets it fall through depending on what you have underneath to absorb it. It could be because primarks fleeces are a cheaper material?

Maybe if the fleece was directly above the puppy pads? Instead of the duvet being there?

i use primark fleeces although not the one you have the other type.i set up my cage layer of newspaper, towel, puppy pads then the fleece.i change about every2-3days.you have washed the fleece first with just soap powder havent you?i think maybe the duvet cover is holding the wee in maybe not use that

I also use the cheap primark fleeces and have no problem, i use towels, newspaper in the ares they wee the most then fleece on top- i never have a problem with the fleece being wet as the water goes straight through and only need to change every 3-4 days.

Did you wash them 2-3 times before using them so they would wick properly- i think this is a must to prepare the fleece for water to wick through it.

I did wash them first, but reading your answers I'm thinking it may be the duvet cover not wicking the wee away,(cotton doesnt tend to be absorbant) I will try just towels underneath and see how that goes if not go back to vetbed Thanks everyone for the advise.

well the problem as to which bedding to use resolved itself tonight after a visit to the vets, last night Panda started to breathe heavily and make a rattling sound, first thought was an URI so took her this evening, the diagnosis was that although she was rattling her chest was clear with no other indication of an infection, so an allergy was mentioned, the only new thing in Panda's life is the new fleece so just to be on the safe side, a steroid injection some antibiotics and back on to the vet bed, thanks again for all the advise.
