Sorry everyone, expect quite a few posts from me over the next week or so! :help:

I want to use fleece, I've got a lot of piggy things to buy at the moment so can't buy a premade cage liner yet. I'm trying to find the right type of fleece to use but it all feels too thin and plastic-y or too soft. I know I'm looking for 100% polyester, but that seems to mean nothing... I've just been holding three different types that all said that!

If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great!

Haha, thanks! So it's the thin stuff I want! Unfortunately the only option in Tesco was my little pony. I'm sure the pigs would be fine with that, but it might be going a little too far for me

Polar fleece is the stuff you want. I am going fleece crazy atm and have ordered loads from ebay in readiness for my two rescue boars. Hope they appreciate it!

I use vet fleece...it has a green backing and is very thick. Fills my washing machine but is nice and bouncy! Don't forget your horse bag to wash the fleece in, and save clogging your machine with hay and fur.

So many kinds of fleece... who knew?! I wasn't sure I could use the super soft stuff! I guess it's just going to be a case of trial and error and seeing what works best for me. I'm sure they're going to love it!

sometimes I find the soft stuff is sometimes a bit harder to wick but usually does after 3 washes. Though the latest fleece I had from asda took 6 washes and I had to clean the washing machine first, lol. I really find the soft fleece better for me as my girls make a large amount of mess.

B&M sell a pack of two fleeces for £3.99, they wick after one wash and work well with a waterproof fabric underneath, I use the Terry Towelling Waterproof mattress protecter for £9.99 also from B&M

Thanks everyone! I did end up getting the B&M fleece. At the moment we have an old towel, puppy pads and the fleece. They've been on it since yesterday and so far so good, wasn't any wet patches in their houses or anything! So much easier to manage and the girls seem to like it too. I've been washing fleece with non-bio powder like you would for a baby... not sure if that's the right thing to do but it seemed to make more sense. It does mean the fleece isn't quite as soft but still soft enough for their little feet

We wash our fleeces using Surcare, it's non bio and non scented, when I started using fleeces about a year ago, the forum recommended it to me and I haven't tried any others :)

Amazing thank you!

Unforunately it does feel like I've gone back 1000 steps. The girls were so tame with me at their old house (they were my boyfriends grandparents pigs but they can no longer care for them). I've moved them to my house and they're so scared. I've kept their old hidey house and old tunnels in their new cage so they smell familiar, and I'm hoping that they will settle quite soon as they do know my scent. Just want them to be the happy (or happier) pigs I know them to be!

I use baby non-bio washing powder as well as this is very good at getting stains off the fleece.
