I see chamomile mentioned as safe for piggies, but which chamomile? German, Matricaria chamomilla, or Roman, Chamaemelum nobile? Both are aster species that are commonly referred to as chamomile and used for human herbal infusions ... Are both okay for piggies, too? I've never really worried about it, as I didn't have either, but I have German chamomile now ...

Thanks!

I guess another way to ask this would be is the correct chamomile the shrubby self-seeding annual that produces lots of flowers (German) or the perennial sprawling/groundcover that produces fewer flowers (Roman), or is either okay?

So upon further research, I see that several of the Cunipic products labelled for guinea pigs (some of the Vet Line foods and at least one of the hays) specifically call out "German chamomile" rather than just using the generic "chamomile."
Is Cunipic a reputable enough brand that I can take this to mean that it is safe to feed German chamomile? (I'll introduce carefully/slowly, of course ...)

Also, is it mainly the flowers they like, or the foliage and stems?
