I’ve had my new C&C set up now for a couple of days, had to go for 4x3 rather than 5x2 as not enough space with my (impossible to move!) fish tanks and fitting my sofa in! Pigs are loving it! (Roof will be properly sorted when I have another pair of hands to help!)

With my possible new arrival in a couple of weeks I’m wondering what’s the best option for her cage when she arrives and settles in.
Does she go in my Ferplast cage (which can go on the floor next to the c&c or on a table next to it) or my ‘original’ cage? On a stand so won’t be too close to Jess and Luigi.

Was planning on putting it down and away but just wondering what others would do?! Want to have the best start for the three of them getting to know each other.
Probably over-thinking it really (me?! :)))!
Thanks for reading :)

I would maybe keep the cage on the stand for a 2-week quarantine and while she has a vet check then move it onto the floor next door to the others for a week before doing the introductions? Love the new cage, lucky piggies! X

Brilliant, thanks guys! :D I was worrying after being told how sad she is and not doing much that I was being a bit mean with her being quarantined, definitely don’t want my two to have any problems though (especially my scrawny old lady!) so sounds the best plan. Well if all goes to plan her coming here of course!
Thanks @PigglePuggle :D they’re so happy with the space (especially nutty Luigi with his popcorns!), wish I’d got one sooner! x

Yes, that sounds the best solution, but I know you would want her next to Jess and Luigi for company x Thinking about Jess’s age I would go for the cage away from them for a while, just to make sure she doesn’t come down with any stress related illnesses from her move X

Yes quarantine is tough love when you are taking on a lonely piggy, when we brought Theo home he was so unbearably sad I felt very cruel doing quarantine! You can always pop a handful Jess and Luigi's used hay and poops or a smelly fleecy hidey in the new girl's cage, so she knows there are friends close by- that will be very exciting for her and will avoid the complete culture shock of sudden new friends if she's been alone for a while! :)

that’s sounds a great idea, I never thought of that!

Yeah I’d definitely never forgive myself if illnesses were spread so quarantine it is! Not used to taking on piggies that aren’t from rescues really (chins and first male rats weren’t but I didn’t have others so no need for it) so just wanted to make sure!

When Jess lost Rupert and was so sad and lonely I gave her the blanket Luigi had in his carrier as soon as we got home, was all over it and so happy  Will do the same with the new little one, just not the other way round! Thanks x

We did this with Blodwen too who spent 5 weeks alone in quarantine in the spare room with ringworm, every day when I cleaned out the haytrays in the main cage we took a handful of poops and soggy wee hay up to Blod, it was like smelly piggy text messages from her new herd until she could meet them in person! :)

I switch around smelly toys between Finn and Lara. They love it. Finn in particular squeaks with joy when I give him Lara’s stuffed toy. He puts his nose in and has conversations with Lara’s toy. I switch around their toys often.

Bless her, forgot poor Blodwen was in quarantine for so long. How far she’s come the little beauty!
Smelly wee hay and poops for the newbie it is! Sure she’ll love them! Has been living with three children too, bet it’s going to be a shock with the peace and quiet at my house! Well other than Luigi the noisy beast! :))

The bedding swap is a brilliant idea, I'm having a why didn't I think of that moment! I'll be cleaning Caspy out soon, I'll give Nugget some of his hay and poops. I'm feeling really mean leaving Nugget upstairs on his own. I have to admit I have chickened out of the quarentine early a couple of times when I've had poor lonely piggies upstairs on their own. The only one who managed the full 2 weeks was Caspy who I knew had been ill and had always been a lone piggy anyway so didn't know any different.

I hope this little girl comes to live with you @alpacasqueak , she will have such a loving home with you.

Thanks so much @piggieminder, really hoping she will get here (with the amazing help from piggy train ladies!) and all goes well 🤞Even if not with my pair and she has to find a boyfriend! But I have a good feeling about Jess accepting her and I’m staying positive!
Nugget is absolutely gorgeous  So chuffed for you and hopefully a much better year for us both! x

I’ve done the bedding swap thing a lot with rats and Pop and Ped when I was bonding them back together after the plum fairy visited Ped! But really saw how much it helped miserable Jess after losing her soulmate, def worked to cheer her up! Just quarantining a lone piggy from a rehome new to me!
Hope it helps with your beautiful boy @piggieminder xx

Is this little sows story somewhere here, did I miss it or have a forgotten in the general confusion and excitement of this time of year?!

Lightning is flaming cute, hope she comes to you, I wanted her 😍. Will you keep the name if she does? I like it

She is beautiful, I had seen the post early on but hadn't seen the result and offers for transport. I was away over Christmas so this is probably why! I love this forum and how everyone offers help.

Definitely, so touched by everyone’s help! I’ve been thinking about another sow/sows to join my pair after Jess had been ill, would hate Luigi to be alone like Jess was after her Poopy Bear left us. She was gutted and I think he would be (maybe not as bad as she gave up eating bless her) if suddenly by himself. And obviously I have far too much time now without my Ped and Poopy!
Bit strange though as Jess has been my only sow since I was a kid (had her 7 years in April!) and she’s rather special as we know! But after having her so long I think she’ll like a lady around. Well if Lightning does, along with a silver fox popcorn nutter! :)) Very sweet as well though. Guess I’ll have to wait and see really!
