I'm on the lookout for a new hutch for the piggies. I now only have 3 so was thinking it would be easier to find one of a suitable size. At present I have to lift the whole roof off of the top of the hutch we have and it's very heavy, my health is not liking this and I am due to have an operation next month which will mean I will need someone to do the heavy lifting for me for several months while I recover.

I would like a two storey so they have lots of running space as we are both out of the house 5 days a week all day so it's not like we can keep putting them in a run (plus they have got used to plenty of space and running about). I have tried all the usuals - petplanet, zooplus, even amazon. I trawled through Quidco and visited all the "pet" websites they had listed to try but haven't really found anything suitable. There was one potential on amazon but both floors were wooden whereas their current hutch sits on the ground so they would have access to grass (if they hadn't gone nuts and destroyed it within two weeks lol!

Any website suggestions to try out will be gladly received.

I can't get link but this is a 2 storey hutch with plastic pull out trays. It looks really good and has 2 sleeping areas and a hay rack. Also the hutch door goes down to act as a ramp for run.
Search hutch and run combo on eBay, scroll down and hopefully you will find it. It is around £79.99 but you can buy the cover and run for additional price. Will post link later.

To be honest having a second floor doesn't give them as much extra space as you may think because of the the ramp they lose half the space on both levels. Ideally they would be better with something longer and wider.

Couldn't you bring them indoors and build a c&c ?

I took this list from a recent post on the sister rabbit forum:
Ryedale Pet Homes - http://www.rehutches.com/
Boyles Pet Housing - http://www.boylespethousing.co.uk/
The Welfare Hutch Company - http://www.welfarehutches.co.uk/
Happy Hutch - www.happyhutch.co.uk/

I have a Ryedale (expensive but solid) and have just bought a Happy Hutch (not put it up yet so can't comment on this one, more flimsy than Rydale (I think most would be though!) but good value for money). I've also seen a welfare hutch that my friend has and that's lasting too but the smallest size they do is 6ft (though I think that's a great size it might not fit where you have in mind).

Hi, I have just bought a lovely double deck hutch from a supplier on e-bay called gardensandpets-uk. It came within two days, cost 59.99 with free postage. It has a pull out wooden self with easy clean plastic top. It has a ramp though I'm not using mine yet as my guinea pigs are only 10 weeks. The bottom deck sits directly onto floor so they can access grass. It was easy to put together and is good quality. The roof is hinged with an interior prop so this would be much easier for you. Hope that helps x

I understand the ramp takes a bit of space but not half. The hutch they have at the moment they lose a space about 10cm x 20cm on the top and they actually use the bottom of the ramp for an extra hidey (my ginger pig likes to sit under it to eat her veggies). This is why I am looking for one I feel is big enough... so despite the ramp they have plenty of space.

Can I ask that we keep the conversation on outside hutches as well as my pigs live outdoors and are not moving inside. Thanks

Ah yes they are the ones I saw on Amazon as they do a 6ft one as well

It seems very apt that the welfare hutch company's smallest hutches start at 6ft . If you have room, I wouldn't have anything smaller than a 6 ft hutch

Thanks for those links, these are the best websites I have seen so far. I don't mind paying a bit extra for a sturdy hutch that will last rather than paying for more than one because they fall apart lol

Oh definitely! We have plenty of space at the moment. Garden is getting redesigned this year so if I get a hutch now it can be designed around the piggies :))

Here is a 7ft x2ft x2ft double with connecting ramp for just £395 including a two man delivery service.
I don't use my website as I don't mass produce or make flat pack hutches that you have to assemble yourself. Only Make to order in small numbers.
