hi I'm looking into making a c&c cage for my 2 skinnies and want to know where to buy them? i will be making a 2 level c&c cage!
**** 2X3 two level :) depending on how big per grid is:{mallethead

Grids are about 14 in (35 cm) wide plus a 1cm gap for connectors.

You can find "metal mesh cube storage" on ebay.

Personally I don't like those bluestone commerce cages. They look difficult to get access to in order to clean/catch pigs and some aren't really suited to guinea pigs.

Look for "cube storage" on ebay or the brand name "seville" and you will see packs of 16 grids. Make sure that the pack you are ordering has 9x9 squares in each grid, some have 8 or less and therefore the gaps are too big to safely use in guinea pig cages.

You'll need 26 panels minimum for a 2x3 two storey cage; 10 for the walls (3 back, 3 front, 4 for the two ends) x2 then 6 more for the floor between the two levels. This is assuming that it is going on to the floor or on a table of something (because no panels are counted for for the ground level base) and means that it will be open to the top.

Seville packs which the eBay ones I bought were have 16 panels in them (6 mesh + 10 grids) and the B&Q black ones have 24 panels in them. You could just have 4 panels for the floor and make the ramp come up on the end were the two panels were missing perhaps?

They are just perspex, I don't think they are suitable.

I bought from this seller http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170465083969&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT They charge 1 lot of P&P for up to 4 boxes of grids (they are heavy! so that's realy good) - If you are buying from eBay, make sure you check how much they charge for multiple boxes cos the cheaper unit prices had the higher delivery prices when I bought recently and I was buying 5 sets so had to be careful!

There's some better/bigger pics of it on [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/INTERLOCKING-SHOE-ORGANIZER-RACK-PAIRS/dp/B0011YAZV8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1282152107&sr=8-1"]Amazon[/ame] The panels will be rectangles too, not square.

ive brought some they were off ebay solid metal with plastic coating i have 49 grids and 48 conectors £33 with delivery it sez they are ideal for small animals:) is that a good buy?

If you paste the link it should just show as item sold when we click it. If you copy and paste just the item number rather than the link then when we search it will just show the item as we'll be searching ourselves (if that makes sense?! @))

Also, Wilkinsons sell black cable ties. Have you had a C&C cage before? I can't remember you saying you have? I found when we built the first one that the connectors were a pain, this time round we aren't using them, we have just cable tied the lot. I think it looks better (personally)

Doesn't look like there are any mesh panels (same as the B&Q link I posted earlier) but that's not really an issue to be honest. I'm going to use my mesh panels along the back wall (to help reduce spillage where I wont be able to reach) and for the floor. All the viewable bits will be grids.

ive got loads of black correx hubby's work place uses it could i make it a bit taller at the back?to help stop spillage?

no ive never used/had one before i did read about people using cable ties

You'd be surprised how many you get through rolleyes Even if you do use the connectors, you'll still need to tie them too for extra safety as I found the connectors popped off easily.

Yep you could :) It'll look really good all in black. Just make sure you measure a couple of times before cutting and have a play about with the grids before making your final decisions. Although saying that I think everyone changes it about :)

mine will be in my alcove in my livingroom on top of a cabinet thats where they are now but both in there own ferplast/nero 2 cages 1 on top of the otherrolleyes will be so good when they can both go together and even have a new c&c cage xx>>> hubby dont know ive brought themrolleyesrolleyes:))meaning the c&c cage not the skinnies lol

oh well he will soon:)):))

Ooohh.... you got a bargain Claire... I'm jealous. :x

I made a back 'wall' of correx and then sat the bottom correx tray inside as usual. This is because I can't easily get behind to clean.

I haven't got a very good picture but this is what it looks like in the hay loft.

Just explain what a bargain it is! I paid £91.65 for 80 panels inc P&P (£1.14 a panel) and you're getting them for £0.70 each (inc P&P).
