Hi I was just wondering where I can buy a good, long-lasting, relatively cheap hay rack? I don't have one and my pet shop doesn't seem to sell one. My piggies usually just eat hay off the floor, but I am concerned about how hygienic that might be.

Thanks!

I stopped using hay racks after some pretty sad stories about piggies getting trapped in them. I've recently changed over to hay bags, and although I was a little apprehensive, the piggies seem to like them. I bought mine from 'Snoozie's Cozies' on Facebook.

I just put my hay in a pile on the floor. My piggies love to play with it as well as eat it. I feel it is more natural for them.

I got a metal hay rack prior to reading the post about the poor piggie who was trapped in one - and I have never used it because of that. There top layer of bedding is hay, but I also like to put a huge pile inside a cardboard box for them to happily munch on - will be looking to try and make a hay bag soon and if it looks rubbish I will purchase one :)

I have always used hayracks without a problem and my guineas loved them. I used to put them on the outside of the mesh door of the hutch when the guineas were in the shed and they would pull the hay through the mesh. Now I have a black metal one inside the hutch as it is outside, I got it off amazon but in the past have made them myself out of leftover wire mesh from making runs

My Boys never used their hay rack ....so we took it out... they just have big piles plonked here and there...they love playing in it as well as eating it! :)

I've just bought a kerbl hay rack and that works just fine. The boys seem to like it.

Thank you everyone for your recommendations!

I think hay bags would probably a good choice, I'll find a brown paper bag or something, and stuff it with hay.
