Hiya Everyone,

I've just cleaned out my piggies cage, so whilst it looks nice I thought I would post some pictures!

I have 4 sows in a 5x2 and 1 boar next door. In a couple of weeks they will all be together in a 7x2. The girls are usually in a 6x2 but it's only temporary.

1st view of the cage:

Front view with rabbit crate underneath (they are never normally shut in, just for the photo!). I was dead chuffed that I found a perfect table to line up with the dog crate, it's from Ikea and it's the perfect width:

Hope that inspires people to build a C&C :)

It looks great!

Say, do your piggies like the platform thing? I've been thinking about getting one, but I'm worried Bo the Destroyer will headbutt it when one of the girls are asleep on top. Is it heavy?

Hiya - I have one piggy who jumps on everything and she loves it, my others are more ground dwellers but love to sleep underneath it. It's very secure and reasonably heavy. You screw the legs in place so there's no way a pig would be strong enough to tip it over. I'd definately recommend it, although it is rather soft wood so they do chew it!

that looks great i'm hoping to get c & c caging soon.....:)...just haven't decided where the best place in the house for it is xx

They are the best cage by far in my opinion, I don't even like using the term 'cage' 'cos they are so huge I'd live in there!

I put mine in the dining room so they can see in the living room and kitchen (where we spend the most time). They are pretty noisy at night so I definately wouldn't have them anywhere near my bedroom! Just make sure they aren't in a draught and all the usual stuff. I'd love to see pictures when you've built it! :)

Looks fab!:)):))
How much does it cost to make a C&C cage that size?
How mcuh did the 'furnishings' cost and where did you get them? (the log tunnel, platform, bed ect.)
Thanks!:):)

Hiya :) Before I tell you this I must warn you that C&C cage building is addictive, you can just keep them growing (and filling with rescue pigs!).

Seriously though they are very easy to make and very cheap for the size.

To make the actual cage I used 2 boxes of storage cubes (these ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BNIB-Mesh-Gri...ce_Supplies_Stationery_ET?hash=item27ae9c5d9e)

That price is brilliant, I doubt you can find cheaper, you get the connectors inside the box. For extra rigidity I put zip ties around each corner of the cubes (it's very sturdy then and can't fall apart).

For the base you can use correx put I just bought a roll of carpert protector (like this from B&Q http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.j...refview=search&ts=1263759635186&isSearch=true).
It's the perfect width for a 2 cube wide cage.

I put fleeces over the top from Primark/ASDA with a towel underneath.

All the toys are from Ebay (Sure Pets and Merlins Pet Supplies):

The platform is here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rabbit-Or-Gui...UCI%2BIA%2BUA%2BIEW%2BFICS%2BUFI&otn=10&ps=63

Cosy:

The veg basket is here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Veggie-Basket...UCI%2BIA%2BUA%2BIEW%2BFICS%2BUFI&otn=10&ps=63

I use 4 cat litter trays filled with newspaper and hay. They do tend to go to the toliet in these areas rather than the fleece. I also have cat jingly balls and cardboard tubes (Wilkinsons).

Overall I would say this set up breaks down as:

Pack of storage cubes: £20.90 x 2
Roll of carpet protector: £8.98
Fleeces: £2.00 x 8
Cat litter trays: £1.75 x 4
Wooden platform: £7.48
Cuddle cup: £7.99
Veg holder: £2.99
Water bottle: £2.75
Jingly balls: £1.00
Hay rack and ball: £5.00
Cardboard tube: £1.99
Carrot toy: £1.75
Food bowl: £2.99

So that's £107.72 for everything, just for the basics of the cage it's £50.78.
Bargain!

Hope you wanted that much detail! :))

ooo and the pretty lights around the edge are also from B&Q. They look fab at night, lots of designs to choose from. I swear the pigs chill out when I put them on, they are so mesmerised!

That's a great set-up you've got there. I'm getting a C&C on Tue and very excited so great to get some inspiration :))

Great cage set up - am sure people would be very interested to know what the name of the table is from ikea! :)

Great set-up! I'm sure that you will have one very happy boy soon! :))

The table is called a Mikael. Very easy to build, it's only in 5 bits that need screwing together. It's here http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40079218.

Width: 140 cm
Depth: 75 cm
Height: 76 cm

Perfect width for 2 cubes by 4 cubes long or 2 tables make a 7 x 2.

Only £38.99 too!

It is a pretty big, cumbersome box through, I had to lug it to the car on my own!
