So I have finally decided to build my C&C cage, I already have mesh grids which I use for a 5'2" run in the day and though its about time to turn it into a bigger home for the boys.

I ordered my correx from teacrate packaging today and thought I would look at the cage gallery for inspiration on how to build my ramp and how to support the hay loft but all the the pictures have gone :( I know the new gallerys make way more sense but there just isnt much in them yet!

This is may cage design so any ideas would be appreciated.

Do you have another panel to put halfway between the entrance above so its not so open? Also if you have two more panels you could use them as a ramp and put fleece up it so they have grip and cannot fall through?
I use spare correx and a board for my ramp and put a towel around the board for grip.

I'll take a pic and add it later. It is attached with cable ties at the top so it can be lifted easily for cleaning and changing.

I use all of my grids on the exterior, I have the Wickes mesh grid, I have seen some grids for sale individually are the regular C&C grids the same size

There maybe someone on here that has spare grids? I got some from the lovely Laura which allowed me to finish off my loft. I also put another one on the side of the ramp above so they cant get out that way.

If you dont have a spare grid to make it less open, you could make the correx slightly higher in that area, that way you can have a opening and the pigs will be safe. If you understand what i mean?

For my ramp i used some of the mesh grids and bent them into shape and covered the ramp with carpet.

:)

My girls love the loft and Tinka will sit and wait for her brekkie up there when I come down the stairs!

The bottom of the loft is attached with cable ties to make it stronger.
The front of the loft has two panels with one moved over for access. And another added to the top of the ramp so they cant 'escape' out that way, even though its against the wall.

do you use the loft as a bedroom rather than hayloft? How do you find fleece big enough for the bottom part? Looks fab.
What is hanging from the front of the loft? do they normally hang down for hideys?

Not too but in, but Sharon looks to have a 3 x 4, when I had one every fleece I got fitted perfectly :).

My girls didn't really use the hayloft when I put hay up there, they seem to prefer the litter tray downstairs. I usually have a bed or cosy upstairs and a tibe or tissue box stuffed with hay. There's usually someone up there and they like to run up and down the ramp.
I get my fleeces from Dunelm Mill. They're £3.99 for a throw that's 140cm x 200cm, which is just a little too long so I fold it over. Some other fleeces I've had haven't been wide enough to tuck over the sides of the correx tray.
The things hanging down from the loft are like curtains. I made them when it was cold to try and make it more snug at night time. I just sewed squares of fleece onto some cotton tape and tied it onto the grids. I fold them up during the day so that I can see the girls but they get very excited when I let them down. They like to run underneath and peep out at me. :(|)

That sounds like a good idea, I might nick it! I am going to put something hanging down from the ramp as they like to sit under there.

Ohh thanks for the pictures its a real help. I think I will definitely order some spare grids and connectors.

Also if you have a WHAT shop nearby they sell fleeces for £1 and they are all good patterns, they also have a pet section with fleeces in but never looked to see how much they are.

ohhh yes thats the one! thanks so much. I shall have a good looksie now

Is it just called What?

yes just WHAT, it sells everything tho! I buy all my art supplies from there as canvases only cost 90p! They sell furniture, toys, pet supplies, garden stuff. Just about everything under one roof.

They dont have a website unfortunately but I know of a one in Cardiff and one in Bristol.

Thanks for the help. I have ordered some extra grids along with a luxury tunnel from cavy couture. I plan to make the ramp out to the grids as suggested and put some extra around the hay loft to stop them escaping. The tunnel will be used on the ramp to make life a little bit more exciting for them. I cant wait for all my bits to come :<>
