I have noticed my little guys dont hide in the hay to sleep, dont go into their hidey houses, dont go into their cosy hooded beds - they just lie flat on the floor of their cage!

I think it's quite sweet, but is it normal!? I thought they liked to hide to feel safe, so thought this would apply more when they were going to sleep!

Crazy little piggers :)

mine sleeps ...
under the ramp to the second floor
or on her bed or beside it
or inside the tube where the hay goes

i think anyway is normal :)

Sometimes on top of hideys and one has been known to fall asleep with her head in the food bowl ^)

Ours flop down wherever they fancy but rarely sleep in hidey's, tunnels etc. We all spend a fortune accessorising their homes and some prefer to sleep in the open rolleyes
Piggies who don't sleep in hidey's etc. are supposed to feel extremely comfy with their surroundings so this can only be a positive thing :))

Mainly in the haylofts which I cover with fleece at night so they're nice and cosy. Sometimes one of them comes down the ramp in the night and spends the rest of it under a hayloft on/snuggled behind a squishy cushion. :)

Thats good to know! I bought loads of igloos etc ages ago thinking they would be happier (as you say!) but I just don't bother now, I have two wooden hideys among six piggies and I only keep them because they love sleeping on top of them! The wooden log bridges are their favourite places to rest but yes, just flopping anyway seems to be favourite.:))

Thanks for replying everyone! its nice to know that everyone's piggies are different :) I think I imagine where i would sleep if I was a guinea pig, and when they do the opposite it just confuses me lol.

Glad to know that they feel v comfortable if they sleep in the open, that's a nice feeling :) x

They plonk everywhere - Tanni loves somewhere she can jump up or crawl into, others like to sprawl right in the open. Hafina will only ever sleep on hay. Some would fall asleep next to their bowl or even with their face in the pellets... Nerys quite likes to doze under the dining table next to the plate (or even on it on a hot day) in the hour before dinner time.

One of my first couple of piggies, Mischief:

Mine sleep all over the place. The free range herd sleep either in the hay kitchen, the middle of the floor, on fleecy areas and the favourite at the moment is all squished into Audioheart's little beds.

Terk and Ellie sleep either in the little beds, under the logs or in the hay loft.

Buzz and Beanbag have a fleecy hut they love or if not they sleep in the hay loft.

Nigel sleeps in his hayloft unless he isn't well then he sleeps on his vet bed.

Rosie sleeps in her pigloo.

Percy-Roo always, always sleeps in his beach hut:

In the summer, mine sleep anywhere on the floor of the cage. In the winter they sleep in their wooden hideys and cozies, except Bob. He buries himself in the hay :))

In the day time theyll sleep wherever but at night Fuzzy will always sleep in his cosy or in the hammock house on a plonk and Tyler sleeps in his hammock (very cute!). Flinn and winston sleep together in their cosy tunnel :)

I have everything from a hut, to hay to a hideaway but Lacey seems to like sleeping under my armchair just poking her head out so she can see me, she has her own large space with tunnels etc but always flops under the chair, very cute

I have a plastic piggy house that Angel sleeps in. I also turned a large plastic container from a shredder on its side, put shavings and hay in it. Lola and Pip sleep in there. They all take turns sleeping in the large cardboard tube I've put in. ;)

It's a mixture with mine. Some will go to sleep in their houses and others will just lie down out in the open. It depends how confident they are I guess.
