I am in Australia and the temps here at the moment are in the mid to high 30's. My daughter has their cage in her bedroom and we keep the fan on at night and the aircond during the day (set at 22-24 degrees) We cant keep the cage outside because not only the harsh temps but we live in a rural location and have a lot of foxes at night. (Not to mention a very large dog)
Does anyone else keep their piggies inside all the time?

Mine are kept in my bedroom too. I love just being able to sit and watch them. Plus, the opposite to you guys, it's too cold outside here for my liking, especially when the temps get down to -14C!

Yes, my pigs are indoors. It's too cold outside, they do however get outside for supervised grass eating when the weather is nice!

This is my piggies cage, theres 6 pigs in it. 2 on each floor.

wow flintstones thats one big cage! My hubby is already asking if he needs to build an ark with the small number of animals we have now, I dont think I would be very popular if I got anymore.

with them being inside, does anyone find the cages start to smell or do you just clean them out more often? The breeder I got my 2 from, had heaps of them and the place absolutely stunk of urine, they were kept outside in a tent like structure with aircond, but the cages weren't kept very clean (they were quite disgraceful actually)

Thats why I go to rescues, wouldn't give breeders the money. Anyways in future I would suggest rescuing Guinea Pigs, rather than Buying as there are so many in need of forever homes.

Cleaning the cage helps them not stink. I clean mine every 4-5 days. I don't have any problems with them stinking.

you would not believe how hard it was to get piggies...we have been trying for weeks to find some, and in the end this breeder was the only one that had any. Haven't seen any over here that needed rescuing but once we have the hang of these 2 I would love to get more, so will keep my eyes open

I never really notice mine smell either, however every now and then I will get a wiff of it and remember it's time to clean them. I keep mine on fleece, so I just sweep the poops out once a day and they pee in a cat litter tray that I empty every so often, as it needs it.

you can toilet train piggies?

:)), Totally not, but what alot of people find is they like poo and wee on there hay, so if you put a littertray in filled with hay, as they will spend most of there time there they will also tiolet there. Reducing the mess.

My 4 girls live outside the back door in a huge 6ft by 2ft by 2ft hutch. However, they are indoors at the minute in a makeshift cage due to the cold weather we have recently had

Mine live in my front room, and will do all year round. I'm going to buy a garden run for exercise when the weather improves

All of mine live indoors, a mix between the upstairs and the downstairs.

My girlies are in the back porch between the kitchen and bathroom. So I get to see them alot as I go out for a smoke, and I'm always in the bloomin loo.
As for smells. I dont really notice anything until I do their weekly thourough clean out.
Must get a corner box too see if they peepee in there.I'm not so bothered with the poop, as its little and hard.lol

I now have a pig room (the dining room)!

Mine is kept in the house in the dining room. I dont really have temperature issues like yours though lol. Ours are indoors because its cold hahaha. x

Mine are in the house all year round. 2 in my sons bedroom in a c&c cage and 1 in the living room, she will be going to live upstairs with the others soon as I'm adding to my c & c cage.
Id love a Guinea Pig room, our house is far too small, the c & c cage takes up most of the floor space in the bedroom. when i first set it up my husband fell over it and nearly went head first through the window. :))

my 6 piggies live indoors, we have a lounge/diner and they live in the diner part, OH wasn't impressed when he came home to find i'd dismantled the dining table to fit all their cages and stuff in :))

Mine are outside but we put a big thick cover over them at winter and give them plenty of hay. This is their third winter and the cold does not really bother them much.

Normally kept outside all the time. But this winter, their water bottle kept freezing so decided to bring them inside. So currently in my bedroom :)

Will go back out asap!
