Hi,

I am not sure if I am doing the right thing when handling them, I tickle behind their ears and stroke their chin/nose. I know the bums are a big no no.

Where are the best places to stroke them and relax them?

why is bums a big no no my girls love the top of their back legs ruffled?

Hoggle cries! Don't think Ludo is keen either.

Probably something to do with the fact that I also try and de tangle, which makes them cry. 8...

Under the chin, then watch their heads go up the more they like it. Not so much on heads/noses until they are really used to you, as a big hand coming from above can be a bit frightening for a little piggy. x

My 2 like their chins, head and backs stroking however, like Jane mentioned, it takes them a while to like their heads touching. Eleanor was very nervous of me stroking her head and nose at first but now she loves it x)

Most of mine like the 'scruff' on the back of their kneck gently massaging. And as they're AbyX they like me to stroke from the middle of their back to the top of their head as its the way their hair grows - this makes them streatch out and relax.

Some like their ears massaged, some hate it! Plus they like most of the above advice to varying degrees.

All pigs are different, there is really no right or wrong way to pat them,

Most of mine dont care but i have a few that are very particular

Ralph-Saffron-very relaxed and loves laying on his back and getting belly rubs(this is a more rare type of pig)

Blade-Very sensitive and wont tolerate anything other then head and neck area

Rajah-under the chin

Bandit-Ears:{

Basil-i have had him for at least 6 months and he prefers if i never touch him at all,no matter how hard i try he always chatters at me and puffs up(nothing medically wrong so just grumpy)

I find my two coronets are angry and prefer less cuddles than all the rest,do your boys happen to be of this breed?(P.S i know some coronets are nice but this is just my experience)

and the rest just like the general back strokes

Yes mine are coronets...can't really tell whether it is their personality just yet or only because they are still babies. They don't mind cuddles so much on occasion, but they can be stroppy sometimes and cry when you pick them up.
