Hi, I am looking to change from hay and sawdust bedding to fleece bedding for my guinea pig. However, I cannot find it online anywhere in the UK, and shipping costs from the US are way too high! Does anyone know of anywhere that is either a physical shop or an online shop that sells blizzard fleece either in the UK or cheaply to the UK? Also, is it called something different in the UK and is that why it is so difficult to find?! Thanks!

I think it might be called polar fleece here

I note you say guinea pig, does your piggy live with another piggy for company?

eBay.

Please get your piggy a friend if (s)he lives alone. We’d love to see some photos.

I just use fleece blankets with a towel underneath as I find this is the cheapest way to buy it. I know a few fabric shops that sell it in Birmingham and Chester so probably too far for you to travel for a bit of fleece.

Polar fleece / anti-Pil fleece is fine to use... you can always find this on Ebay! B&M, Asda also sell fleeces... along side Tesco, Dunelm...

Hi, thank you so much for your reply :) I will have a research :) And yes, sadly he does. He is a rescued guinea pig and was originally rescued with his father. I moved into a shared house where he was (his dad died before I moved in) and shortly after I moved out they asked if I would like to have him permanently. I live with my parents though so I am unable to get another guinea pig for him - my parents restrictions :( But I know guinea pigs should not be alone and would never have one living on their own out of my own choice but sometimes you do your best under the circumstances, and I feel he has a better quality of care now than he would have had he stayed in the shared house. They loved him very much but were not able to give him the attention or dedication he needed or deserved, especially as they had a young baby.

He does live alone unfortunately. See the above response for details. I am not living on my own for personal and financial reasons and so it is how it is for now :/

What makes them say no to another? Are they paying for the food etc? It wouldn’t be much more money. Is space a problem?

I'm torn because you are doing the best you can. But at the same time he deserves to have company.

They're not keen on pets at all and very wary about making commitments, it's also a space thing, his cage gets moved around the house a bit as it is because there's not real space for him so he has to be moved if they want to use certain parts of the room he is normally in, so having a larger cage would make it a lot less flexible on movement. I will be moving out in just over a year so will be able to sort something out properly after that :)
