My boars are currently eating oxbow young guinea pig essentials. They're four months apart in age however. Jasper just turning 8 months and Neville about to turn 4 months. I know the packagING says up to one year and many vets reccommend one year but I don't want to switch neville too soon because jape turned one year. I also don't want jasper to get obese because neville is too young to switch. Basically I'm stuck. These are my first guinea pigs and I don't know what to do. They share a kitchen and though there are two food bowls they share one by choice. They're both excellent eaters that is not my worry.I also plan to stick with oxbow as my vet myself and the boys like it. Any suggestions? Is neville okay to switch early or is jasper okay to switch later?

Personally, I would introduce a new pellet very gradually...
Perhaps try a small amount of the new variety mixed into the Oxbow and see what happens.
If they like the new one, introduce more until you can discontinue the old.
Oxbow do a senior pellet too - mine hated it though

My 1 year old boar was fed on Science Selective Guinea Pig from around 15 weeks old. The food covers all ages and he's grown up to be a healthy, chunky boar. He was paired with an older boar so I didn't want him to eat Junior food.

That sounds like a great suggestion cute_guineapigs do you know if that is available through Amazon (canadian) as I'm fron canada and that isn't a brand sold at my local pet store. I was planning to stay with oxbow and switch to the oxbow adult diet. But if I could find the science select on amazon. I would likely use that
