Hi all,

My lovely Georgie went for another teeth file today, his second this year :(

I’ve given him lots of things to chew and really crunchy high quality hay but the vet said this can just be down to genetics, and as such this may be a regular occurrence. Because it was less risky, he had a anaesthetic injection this time instead of gas.

He had a little syringe feed at the vets this afternoon, and I’ve given him mushed up pellets and his fave fresh foods, but he looks so fed up and groggy, he’s not touching anything.

When should I step in with recovery food? My worry is that because he’s so groggy I could potentially do more harm than good….any advice welcome!

I agree. I’d offer him some syringe feed this evening but I’d be very careful and take it very slowly in case he’s so sleepy he’s not swallowing properly.

You know, as soon as I hit send on this thread, I got him out to try and tempt him to eat some fresh foods whilst I awaited advice, and he’s eaten some coriander, lettuce, cucumber, sweetcorn and pepper 😍 I think he just needed a bit of encouragement, I wafted each veg right under his nose! I’ve made some fresh pellet mush (he doesn’t like recovery food that much but loves his pellets!) and popped that in with him just in case he fancies a nibble. He’s now fast asleep, I’ll check on him throughout the evening and night tho :)
