I've read that the boys need seperating from the girls at 21 days, is this right? If so thats tomorow for 2 of them. Problem is, they still drink from peppa. Do they need to stay longer? I'm also having problems getting them to drink from the water bottle

Well sadly you have no choice as they could get mummy pregnant. Try a little bowl of water to see if they will find that easier to drink from.

I know, they just still look teeny to me:)) I have the cage ready and cleaned so when I clean out the girls tommorow, little men have to be evicted!

True, nice to have a pair of brothers, hopefully they will be together forever :)

Aww that is lovely. Are you keeping them? Tell me how many guinea pigs you have now that are yours? I know Luigi,Bella,Pepper...

Baby boys need to be separated at 21 days if they have reached weaning weight and are showing too much interest in mum/sisters.

Weaning weight is 250g. If they have not reached this weight then you can leave them for a little longer IF they are not showing interest in mum/sisters.

Anything over 200g is safe enough but 250g is the target weight. If they need building up then softened nuggets are best.

ahh that makes sense. They're still just under 200g, is that because they were in a big litter? They're showing no interest in humping anyone and no rumbling noises yet. I've been giving them softened nuggets every day since they were born. Maybe a couple more days of fattening them up then

Yikes, Well, there's Luigi, Bella and Peppa. From the babies there will be Fudge (girl) Coco (girl) Un named as yet black colour (girl) and possibly smokey(boy) will bond with luigi. Ginger boy and black boy will be housed together with sis in law when I think they are big enough to go. I want to make sure they are ok and eating/drinking well first, ideally 6 weeks so they can live together in the spare cage till then. The other 3 girls in Bella's litter, I'm unsure as yet, but hopefully I can keep them all! So I will have 8 girls, 2 boys! In a roundabout way, I still get to keep all of them because sis in law only lives over the road

Generally leaving them with mum for a couple more days untill they pass the 200g mark is fine, but do remove them if you seen any humping behaviour. Sometimes mummy doesnt finish weening them before they need to be removed (they can still be removed), and this i would imagine is less likely because they will also be feeding from peppa who cant ween them, as she has her own babies to feed.
