Hi. Currently my guinea pigs are still in there outdoor hutch and even thou, they've always got plenty of hay and the hutch is well sheltered, I was just wondering when should they be brought in. It's not too cold outside but at night the temperatures ( according to the forecast ) do drop to about 5/6 degrees. I do check on them regularly at night, and they seem to be fine etc. Just looking for some advice. Thanks in advice

Hi!
I think you should try bringing them in as soon as you can- it will give you peace of mind as well and you won’t have to keep checking on them in the night.
My pigs used to live outside all year round, I would obviously keep them warmer in the winter with hay and heat pads etc, but I’ve found life so much easier now they live inside.

If you are going to bring them in over winter I would do so now. I don't bring mine in but the sudden change in temperature can be bad for them so it's not just a case of what the temperature is outside but what the temperature is indoors. You don't want them adjusting to colder temperatures and then to bring them in where they have to adjust to warmer temps/heating

Hi! I’ve brought my piggy in due to the cold weather. I moved him in about a month-ish ago

Ok thanks everyone. Ill get them inside then asap. Like I said the weather isn't too cold ATM, but will be nice to get them all settled inside for the winter

Best to get them settled in as has been said. Mine are in a heated Piggy Palace made by hubby and also have snugglesafe pads etc but still worry!
Then I worry about all the forgotten, neglected piggies and rabbits left outside when it gets so cold!
At least our Forum members are caring people who look after their animals so well! No cold neglected animals here!
