Ginger is finally allowed to meet his girlfriend and it's went soo well, he rumbled and chased her for about 15minutes in the playpen and there was a pop-corning 10 minutes, after that they just both chilled out eating their veggies and it was like they had always been together...

I have the video of the beginning if anybody wants to see what it was like.

It was beyond cute for me to watch them...

So as it was going fantastic in the playpen i decided to put them in thoroughly cleaned out cage and they have been quite happy all day, as if they had known each other all their life!

There's been a few nips which only happened when in the clean cage but after the nips followed pop-corns, i think skittles was just letting ginger know that this is her cage, ginger is of-course is rumbling at her from time to time but skittles just ignores him or runs away but then when he walks away from her she follows him.

I do have one question though, will he stop rumbling at her eventually?DSCF7386.webp

Here's a few piccies:

Oh how lovely. They are so beautiful. Mooli rarely stops rumble starting so I do not know if Ginger will be the same!

Aww so he could spend a lot of his time rumbling at her then?

Ginger thought Christmas had come early.. :))

Skittles was so happy because she been on her own since her and Buttercup fell out, she pop-corned more today than I've seen in a good few weeks. Thankfully all my piggies have got a special friend of their own now!

It is adorable to hear they have bonded so well. Mooli is forever rumble starting and is worse when one of the girls is in season!

I am so pleased that Ginger and Skittles are getting along. I am very interested to hear about rumbling behaviour .

My boar (Max) has been paired with 2 sows for a week now and I'm seeing behaviours that I never saw when he was with another boar. I am trying to get my head round guinea pig behaviour. I read somewhere that a male rumbling at a female was a courting behaviour. What do people on this thread think?

I was feeling sorry for Max as neither of the sows was particularly interested in his attention to them.

However, this evening, I observed him licking Bess's ears and she was sitting there perfectly content letting him. She then nuzzled him and it looked like they were kissing ! Am I right in interpreting this behaviour as a sign of affection ?

It is often just dominance. He is saying he is in charge. There is also power grooming were the top pig forces the others to groom them. It sounds like they are getting on very well.

I need a Guinea Pig whisperer!

so chuffed it has gone well. Pebbles took to the babies straight away and mothered them. They get away with murder with her and can take things out of her mouth. If poppy-rose did it she would get well and truly told.

Aww that sounds so sweet that she took on a motherly role to them, buttercup was really patient with her babies too, even when they we're little pests but skittles wanted nothing to do with them and would nip at them which is why they had a big falling out!

I will be introducing our new boar to our girls in a few weeks - hope it goes as well as yours has. Useful to know what to look out for. So far we have just had lots of nose rubs through the bars and frantic rumbling when we try a bit of laptime.

Good Luck,

This morning i found Skittles and Ginger sharing their food bowl which was really sweet, my other 2 sows pairings will never share their bowl! :)
