My Guinea Pig has discharge coming out of one eye. She lives with two other girls. I had to get a second opinion from another vet. She’s on antibiotic eye ointment and oral antibiotics. I run out antibiotics in 2 days and she still has the discharge out of her eye. So I’m pretty sure it’s not going to work as it’s day 8 out of 10 for antibiotics.

I’m just at a loss because she’s seeing a very good exotics vet and if the antibiotics don’t work now what for treatment?

Does she continue to live with her herd? I know she’s already exposed them to it but as they all get older they may catch it too which scares me. I really don’t have room for a 4th c&c cage.

I’m just so riddled with anxiety and not knowing what to do. What should happen next?

What is the diagnosis and the reason for the discharge?
Sometimes antibiotics are needed for longer/weeks to cure some conditions.
Sometimes different antibiotics are needed

The vet said pink eye however there was not test. Just to see if the cornea was scratched.

So conjunctivitis. There wouldn’t be a test, only one to rule out ulceration.
What eye drops and what oral antibiotics were prescribed?
It may require a longer course or different antibiotics.
