Is it normal if guinea pigs don't wheek?
Mine do not and my mother is slightly concerned, because it is what all guinea pigs do and are known for.
Do all guinea pigs wheek?

Not all are wheekers, and most quieten down through time, my boar is nearly 5 and he's much quieter than he used to be.

Hi and welcome

How long have you had your guinea pigs and how old are they?

By far not all guinea pigs are loud wheekers; the same as you get peple who can't stop talking and others who won't open their mouth.

But they are also prey animals, so if your piggies are new, then you need to give them time to settle in and get their bearings. As long as they are frightened, they will stay as quiet as they can.

Please take the time to read these guides here. You will find them hopefully very helpful and interesting!

One of my boys up to now will not wheek and I’ve had them two years. The other started after the girls moved in downstairs.

I have one very loud boy and one that only wheeks if the other is going nuts with it

I have had my guinea pigs for 9 months, but I do not know their exact age, as they are rescues. The RSPCA told me they were two years old when I got them, but one looks older.

And yes, we are keeping them warm with a new indoor hutch (we made) and hot water bottle wrapped on old towels (whenever I take a peek, I always see Neville LOUNGING on the water bottle, hot or cold).

If they’re indoors then it should be warm enough for them. Is your house cold? Be careful not to mAke the hot water bottle too hot.

In this case, you just have a quiet pair. Nothing to worry about!

Please keep in mind that what you see and perceive as 'normal' on social media is entirely driven by human demand driving the selection and not exactly by reality of everyday 'normal' - and that guinea pigs have also got a wide spectrum of normal that is not necessarily coinciding with our human idea of 'cute'. ;)

snugglesafe heat pads would be better than a hot water bottle for safety. Snugglesafes are purpose made for animals and won’t break. There is a risk with hot water bottles that they will get under the towels and chew it, resulting in injuries.
