Hi all,

When we got Mali in January this year, he very quickly began wheeking around feeding times.

However, when we introduced Aspen in March, she began wheeking (it's so loud and high pitched it sounds like a car alarm some days!) but Mali stopped.

However, when Aspen went in for her operation and he was on his own he let out a little wheek but as soon as they were put back together it stopped and Aspen continues to give us all sore ears. :)

Is he just being a big lazy lump leaving it to 'the wife'? or something else?

Wow he is beautiful! Maybe with piggies their is one main wheeker and Mali let's his wife do all the hard work!

In my experience, you always get a "wheeker for the group" with the rest to chime in. This task usually falls to a new or young member, but it gets often passed on with a new arrival. ;)

Young guinea pigs are at their most vocal when they are at their most vulnerable through lack of experience. The decibels serve to keep the group constantly updated. Once piggies reach a year old and adulthood, they tend to quieten down noticeably (not with the food wheek, though!)

Mali is a little stunner!
